Thought u guys might be interested. I met with an STI last night
Highway 27th (MIAMI) the guy had it for around 2 weeks already, we talked for a while and then decided to race the cars, we did it rolling 2nd gear Both cars completely stock. My car spooled way faster than his so i quickly got the head start and that was almost a full car length, 2nd and 3rd i was in front without a problem. end of 4th he starts to move up until he comes from behind and places a full car in front of me that was from my end of 4th beggining of 5th when i put 5th he stopped gaining on me., that was way more than a 1/4 mile race. I didnt know if he used water sprayer or not so on the second race i decided to use it. i only used it in 4th gear, the second race the same thing i pulled like a full car and on 3rd gear it looked like it was starting to catch up but just a bit when i put 4th gear he went back the same lenght even in 4th gear this time he never caught up so he decided to stop. So the second one was my race. The guy was cool about it and asked how i felt about the suspension. He showed me his engine i showed him mine. So everything was cool. my car has 2600 miles and only mods are Tints and alarm.

Laterz.

Interesting. But why would a stock Evo spool faster than a stock STI, esp. in a 2nd gear roll? STI has a very short second gear, it should pull on the Evo right away. The Evo should catch up when the STI has to shift into 3rd before 60.

Rolls are always bogus. Two people will race from a roll and give completely different accounts, both claiming they won.

There is a famous video of a Neon SRT smoking a WRX from a roll.... turns out the WRX was modded. It was too fast for the Neon to keep up with, so they did the video as a prank, which is still shown all over the internet to "prove" how fast SRT's are.
When it's pointed out that the video is a bogus prank, Neon fans say, that's ok, because it proves what "would" happen if a Neon were up against a stock WRX or Evo. How lame is that? Rolls are lame.

Haha, that's a house in my neighborhood. His house is right next to the golf course we took the pics at. Never met the guy, but he's got a nice looking bright yellow C5 with chrome wheels.

Funny how the Evo looks like a $29,000 Car and the STI without the FMIC looks like a $20,000 car.

True, however the STi's paint is way better than the Lancers. The STi's black has lots of gold flake in it. Gives it a really cool color-transition effect depending on the angle of your vantage point. My paint hasn't held up real well to only 1200 miles and I take super care of it (wash 2-3 times per week, now up to 7 coats of Zaino, etc. etc.). He hasn't done a thing to his paint (still on the crappy factory wax) and he has just as many miles.

The hoodscoop and rear wing does vibrate pretty bad at speed, and the shifter didn't feel as smooth. The factory shift light is pretty sweet though.

Tough decision I'd say, but I'd still go with the Evo overall.

Like i said yes my car spooled faster or pulled faster once we both floored it. He had the advantage suposely of a roll we both decided to do it rolling as the launch will probably be more of a drivers race and we both wanted to see the power of the two cars. . so i took my car to the sweet spot. And i did the count. On the first race the car did start pulling on me at the end of 4th beginning of 5th but like i said just for a bit after 5th he stopped pulling so we both let go. However on the second race same thing happened so it makes me think my car spools faster than his. Reason why i was taking my car to my sweet spot and my sweet spot was probably a bit too high for his , however on the second race on my 2nd to 3rd shifts his car stayed a little behind probably cuz he had to shift while i was just going through my longer gear. That one he never caught up even in 4th to 5th gear. he let go so i let go once i noticed it. It coulve been a bad driver but i didnt think so. u dont have to be an amazing driver to do a rolling start.
