Do all Carbon fiber stuff esp hood fades and trun into grayish color? Coz I remember my friend got a seibon cf hood Jan 2007 and now it looks grayish and faded!
Had my VIS hood for a year now and no fading yet, "kow"
so imo - they are pretty good,
time will tell i guess, a years too early to tell probably.
I keep it waxed good.
I'd try to park in shade or garage,
or maybe a good car cover if I was really worried about it.

I had my hood for 2.5 years, and then the clearcoat started to peal. Not a name brand hood, and it's vet very sunny here. It was hard to fit, so I had to beg my friend with a body shop to fix it. Just redone, however he said he would never do it again and next time I need to get a new hood, but now it looks better then new.

That is weak for what a Seibon hood costs. I've seen that with the cheap ebay stuff but come on. Just goes to show you what marketing costs, haft the time the name brand expensive stuff is just re-badged knockoff items.
Sorry, maybe paint it?

Fading all depends on the owner.
Most of the carbon fiber manufacturers have a uv attitive called a uv inhibitor. Most have this in the gel coat.
The sun destroys carbon fiber. The next time your parked in the sun, take a digi thermo meter and look how hot that surface is.
Carbon fiber can take the heat...it's the resins that break down, crack, get brittle.
If you want the most out of you carbon fiber parts....keep em out of the sun when ever possible, or buy a car cover.

Had a VIS hood on my old car for two years in the Texas heat. No Fading-waxed it once a week. The car was non-boosted though. I can't imagine trying that on my evo with the amount of heat from under the hood as well as the Texas sun!
Sounds pretty normal if the car gets daily exposure to the sun.Everyone Ive known personally with a cf hood has had some fading.A few body shop gurus I know say to give the hood an extra clearcoat pre-install.
