Evo IX Mivec Stock Turbo, More boost !

I need more boost out of the stock turbo until i can afford a bigger turbo. i talked to a ams tech and he said i can get 26 to 28 psi on my stock fuel injectors and stock fuel pump. im getting XS engineering new upper and lower pipes and intercooler core. but i need to be around 28 spike. i heard a new forge wastegate actuator will do the trick? is this true. thanks ladies.

ill ignore the ladies part and respond with i bet they left off the fact that you needed meth to run that much boost safely.

You would definatly need a wastegate to make any kind of boost. On the other hand, I would not run that kind of boost with the stock injectors... And I would suggest head studs...

you can run 28 spike on the stock wastegate, you just wont hold it as well. I have the forge in my car and it holds it a little better that is for sure. I use a greddy ebc to help with boost and it does great. I changed out the fuel pump for safety though

-dont need head studs.... 18k running 28 pounds and im a bad example of long term high boost on stock studs... I have friends running smae boost for 30-40k.

-running that much boost is doable on stock injectors

-ams doesnt like meth, have you done ur own research?

there are a few good kits out right now. aquamist, smc, snow performance... etc

Cheers!

This is one of those subjects that will have no definitive answer. If you want to be safe, most people will agree you need wastegate(to hold the boost, no safety there), either fuel pump or injectors, and head studs. I agree with 4 wheel slide, do a little research on meth. AMS is not the only tuner out there...

you don't need injectors. stock is fine. I was spiking over 30 in my 05 and I do from time to time in my 06. All I've ever upgraded was the fuel pump.

The only reason you ever need an upgraded wg is if you want to hold the boost better. Head studs are a safety thing but not needed. I know of quite a few guys that are running around with high boost and no upgraded head studs, in the old dsm's it was a must.

I'm definately getting upgraded headstuds when ams is putting my cams in. im just not sure which cams to get yet, cozis, gsc s1`s or hks 272`s, nobody cantell me which of the 3 give me the most ponies from 5500-7500 rpms. thats what im looking for TOP END. and im def getting a walbro fuel pump. i just dont have money for the gt35r ( its what i want) so maybe the forge will hold better boost.

I agree with AMS in not liking meth. Meth to me is like nitrous oxide however it is much safer, but can also still be very dangerous if your not paying close attention. I love when I see 400-500whp Evo's without using meth on straight pump gas, to me that's a true performance car. I always seem to turn my head once I see meth in the mods list. That's just me and everyone's obviously entitled to their own opinion.
