blinker fluid is low...

my car makes all sorts of noises.. and i brought it to two dealerships.. and had a friend listen... noises are 'normal'...

I'm bone stock.. and it almost stalls sometimes with the AC on.. it has stalled once when i put the clutch in... and the master tech who owns an evo was in the car didn't say anything about it..

I thought i had heard it was somewhat normal. This wouldnt normally be a problem for me, but my GF and I just moved in together and she rides everywhere with me, so i have to have the AC on for her...

Having noise from a throwout bearing means either the bearing wasnt properly installed, or it is on its way out. There should be no noise whatso ever from a Tob. Sorry if i was harsh, i just dont want this guy thinking haveing tob noise is alright. Sooner or later your trans/ and or clutch will go if your tob is making noise. Its just the nature of the beast. sorry to burst your buble.
I don't claim to be a master mechanic, and it may be conventional wisdom that tob noise is A Bad Thing (TM) for cars in general, but when it comes to Evos, the facts I can personally state for certain are:
- My car made this noise since it was new
- My trans has not gone out yet, nor has the noise become worse, and I have 2k miles on the car
- A thread exactly like this one pops up about twice a week on this forum, and the majority of responses are that the noise is not an indication of any problem, and that all -- as in ALL, not most -- Evos (8s and 9s at least) make this noise from the time they are brand new and live long and happy lives despite that fact.

Take those facts as you will. To me, they suggest that -- one way or the other -- the noise is something that can be safely ignored and contrary to the above, is not a sign of impending mayhem to befall your transmission. My opinion, of course.

EDIT: A quick googling seems to suggest that this Evo-specific noise may not be tob noise at all (my claim that it was tob noise was based on my read of past threads on this same subject). Tob noise however apparently happens only when the clutch is pressed in (i.e., the opposite of The Famous Evo Noise). So maybe we are both right: tob noise is bad, but The Famous Evo Noise is not. Question is, where does the Famous Evo Noise come from? Just play in the tranny gears rattling under no load would be my guess. It DOES go away the second there's any load at all on the tranny.

75k here with that noise. put in a new clutch and TOB noise came back a while later its the nature of the beast man. Your car is fine. Every EVO I have ever been in does this. Also the drive train itself is noisey in these cars wait untill you guys swap the clutch and get a decel noise. 75k on mine and 50k on hers

Most point the noise to the TOB but in researching many have found out it in the Trans mainly the imput shaft

This is not anything to worry about guys if it worries you you bought the wrong car. If you guys start having mitsu strip your cars apart trying to find this noise (that they will tell you is normal anyway). Your going to end up with more headaches than a noisey drivetrain

I just test drove an EVO with 116,000 miles on it. The car is bone stock but it idles so rough with the AC on that the entire car vibrates. My parents are never gonna let me get it. The second they get in the car their gonna be like "turn on the AC its hot as hell", and when I do their gonna be like "WTF the whole car is shaking, no way in hell were buying this car" Any suggestions?

I noticed this noise once before and then again today, my car has ~15,000 and is lightly modded (GM solenoid, TBE, fuel pump). The noise comes from the driver's side and can be heard from the wheel area and from battery area when the hood is open. Its like a ticking noise...something vibrating.

I must say that for some reason I keep thinking the Evo is so fragile I'm afraid to break it because it will be expensive to fix. On other hand, I used to drive my WRX fairly hard...autocrossed it every chance I got and drove spirited all the time. Oh well.
