if your going to tune them on a dyno yea, but usually just the shafts are the biggest gain

I am also wondering how important cam gears are, I'm about to install some Cosworth Cams....and of course it's going to be tuned.

cams themselves are prob the best bang for the buck your gonna do besides a upgraded turbo. your stock turbo dies around 5500-6000, well i installed my hks 280's and the car would keep pulling all the way to my raised rev limiter(7800) . the gears, i have no idea, i would say throw the extra couple hundred and buy the cams, not the gears!!!!!

If you do buy the cam gears, stay away from HKS cam gears, they have been known to slip and destroy engines.

I ran my car for a year when i did my Cams before i put cam gears on. their is no real gain to doing cam gears unless you do a turbo upgrade or you want to fine tune on a dyno. Make sure when you do your cams that you do headstuds too. A chep mod for a lot of protection.

HOW THE HELL CAN YOU SET YOUR NICE SET OF UPRATED CAMS UP WITH OUT GEARS?????

seriouly guys, you will never see the best out of a set oif cams with out cam gears! they let you set them up and if your tuner is good then you will have them right in the sweet spot! stock ones can move/be out. if they are set up you know they are right!

All the big tuners over here use the like of HKS.

thanks Chris.

cam gears

I'm running the cosworth cams with stock valve train and no cam gears. I've had no problems whatsoever on a IX.
