I'm paying $95/mo for full coverage with All-State, under my sister's policy. Living in Chicago, under 26yr old, male, and with a few speeding tickets under my belt, insurance premium would cost me a fortune.

You should totally not insure it as an OZ or you will be screwed big time if you ever need to claim. It might not be in their system but they can find it by other means (them calling main office, etc). Just let them know it is not the Lancer OZ, etc, etc. It is the Lancer Evolution VIII. You need to make sure that they just don't quote it as a regular Lancer. BTW, I have Progressive and mine went up like $120 a year from my 95 eclipse.

State Farm is good. I totaled my Millenia S in december, nocked down a wall, a tree, and a street sign. And i wasnt even under the insurance and they paid every thing. It also didnt go up a penny, i use to pay $134 a month

I made sure State Farm had me covered for the lancer evo rather than the OZ by scanning and emailing them my paperwork to show the cost of the car. Normally I should be covered right away but since they didnt have it in the system, I will have to wait till Thursday.

Word to the wise make sure your not being insured as a OZ. The OZ is a 10 on their scale the EVO is a 19. When I first got mine they listed it as a OZ and with the wrong VIN number. Make sure you double check your registration that it is listed as a EVO.

If you are seeing a drop in insurance from other 4 door sedans I would bet they have it wrong.

I agree make sure your Evo is insured as an Evo and not an OZ!!!
My first qoute I got was like $900+ a year (OZ), then I got another qoute from a different agency and it was like $1000+ (Evo) for six months. Well I do have a speeding ticket and a comprehensive claim (stolen vehicle) on my record so can't do anything 'bout that till next year.

Anyway I made sure that my Evo was being insured as an Evo and NOT an OZ, because if I ever have to make a claim atleast I have peace of mind knowing that I'll get full value on an Evo and not full value for an OZ.

What? That's crazy. You don't have to commit to buying a certain vehicle just because you gave a particular VIN to your insurance agent to get a quote. I do that for people all the time so things like Montero Limiteds don't get confused with Montero Sport Limiteds.

Here, use this one, it is sitting right outside my window and doesn't belong to anyone:

JA3AH86F53U089454

MSRP is 30062 if they ask.

State farm dumped me today and wont insure me and the EVO. I am going with geico and saved me some $$$ by insuring my 2nd car, 95 maxima. $1800/6months, $3600/yr for me and my gf. Im 23, and she is 24 BTW. I have 1 speeding ticket in 1998, and a minor moving violation in 1999.

Geico didnt have the car listed into their system yet, and I dont have plans to tell them anything until after i pick up my car next week. I made sure to tell them on the phone I have a EVO VIII and not a ES which is listed on the policy. The salesperson at the mitsu dealer said it was ok and recommended I should keep it this way to save $$$ until their system updates their info for the EVO's. Needless to say, since this wont really be my daily driver, I will wait a while and see if my rates will jump and if not I will call geico again to have it rectified(needs to be done anyways)

What did you guys do with geico?
