autometer boost gauge issue/question?

I just got finished installing an autometer boost gauge. I used the instruction posted by another member and took my time, routed the 1/8" nylon tube through the fire wall, under the glove box, and up to the steering column mounted gauge pod. I also used the green/white wire to tap into from the interior light dimmer switch. I turned on the car and I'm not getting any power to the gauge for lighting and it isn't reading boost properly. I shows about -17lbs during idle, and only jumps to 0lbs with throttle input. Any ideas?

I may be posting this a little prematurely because I taken the time to really dive in to it and trace all of the lines. Could it be a pinched line or could it simply be a faulty gauge.

Thanks for the help

oh, I also used teflon tape on the gauge connections, as well as plastic zip ties on all hose connections under the hood.
thanks

1 you pinched the line...nylon stuff is crap, get some regular rubber vacuum hosing
2 you probably have the power/ground incorrect...black is ground, white is power ...if you have it installed correctly you probably didn't disconnect battery before beginning your wiring adventure and blew a fuse.

-17 psi sounds about right at idle. Have you actually driven the car? You won't build boost while revving the throttle and not moving.

As far as the wiring, there are plenty of How-To's on here for wiring for power.

thanks for the quick responses. I did wire the white and black wires correctly, but I did not disconnect the battery, so I may have simply blown a fuse. I also didn't drive the car yesterday due to weather conditions, so I will take it out today. I haven't installed a boost gauge in years, and forgot the last time I did so, that I had to actually place a load on the engine to get a reading out of the gauge. I will give it a shot and see what happens.

thanks again
