Just do it yourself and get a good sealant on there. Layer it if you want to but make sure you seal your paint with a good sealant. Skip the wax if its a DD (or layer the wax on top of the sealant after letting the sealant seal for 24 hours.)

Just look at the finished work, & decide if they meet your expectations.

I think it's a good idea to get a professional detail done, it makes it much easier to maintain after.

Visit autopia.org, theres alotta good info and product recommendations on there. Do it yourself until it starts to get really bad, then every few years give it to those guys to go through real good. All in all a hand wash and wax takes an hour once you got it down (at least when your detailing flat rate at a dealership, lol) and if you do that weekly, you're car will be the talk of the town all the time.

why wait 24 hours? reason why i'm asking is because i'm street parked, and after about 10 minutes my car is dirty again.

Do it yourself. That way you hit every nook and cranny of the car. A lot of detailers will miss a lot of spots that you would probably see and clean. Oh, and you'll save yourself a lot of money too.
