i read that both turbos on the 335i are mitsubishi turbos. does anyone know which model they are? the only thing i could think of that would be small enough are the 14Bs.

 

I believe they are Mitsu td03-7t turbo's.

I have an early Dec delivery so I havent seen them firsthand, but there's been some debate at e90post as to what they are. Td03-7t seems to be the consensus, and that sounds about right.

On another note, since joining e90post, I've seen so many ex Evo owner's over there, it's pretty crazy at how many there actualy are, and quite a few EvoM members too.

 

what kind of turbo is that? i have never heard of it before. has it ever been on any mitsu vehicles? how does it compare to the 14b, 16g, etc?

 

i'm one of them.. wait.. i'm not ex-evo owner.. i still have my evo. I still feel my evo have better handling.. (buddyClub RSD, floor bar, V trunk car, SwayBar)

 

the 14b came stock on the 1st gen DSMs....good for up to 17psi i think

 

Mitsubishi is one of the top turbo manufacturers for OEM along with IHI (Fuji Heavy Industry). So I am not surprised BMW outsourced their turbos thru Mitsubishi..

 

The $1.4 Million Bugatti Veyron uses 4 Mitsubishi turbochargers, which says a lot about the quality and reputation of Mitsu turbos.

 

OT, sorry... but don't Subaru's use Mitsubishi turbos also?

 

turbo's aren't the only thing they outsourced from mitsu.

 

Off the topic, but I thought Bugatti used KKK turbos and Subarus IHI turbos. Any facts about the Mitsubishi turbos in Bugatti or Subaru?

 

Some do. Nearly all WRX's use TD04 or TD05 turbos. STi's run VF series turbos.

 

Subaru's use IHI turbos

As for the Bugatti, well they are owned by VW, and VW uses KKK turbos so I would expect the Bugatti to also use KKK turbos.

Edit - I looked around alittle and it seems that the Veyron uses KKK K27 turbos.
