It is much more cost effective if you do it yourself. You can get a gallon jug of oil at most any store for about 25 bucks. You won't get that price at a quick lube or a dealer.

It's also easy as many have said and you get the satisfaction of doing a bit of easy maintenance on your ride as a side benefit.

Only time you will have to worry about documentation is when you get work done. That isn't a factor for me as I have close to 65k on mine.

Damned double post HAHA!!!!!

I wasted $85 getting an oil change from the stealership a while back. Do everything myself now.

I would, cause you can never be too careful with a dealership
and they might try and screw you if you show up with any kind of mod

my first oil change was at the dealer, I figured lets see how they operate?
when I got home a few days later I noticed oil spots on my garage floor "WTF"
it was coming from the oil plug, I removed the oil plug and noticed that they forgot to put back the ring on the plug, how stupid can someone be and forget to replace the metal o ring? so that week I received two oil changes, one from the dealer and one I did myself, ever since then I am the only one performing my oil changes.
we'll that was the first and last time I took it to the dealer, plus who has the time to bring it there?

plus they do more things than just oil change such as rotate tires, etc.
most of the time they will have some "fresh" out of school "b" mechanic working on your car lol not mine

if u tell them u want oil change only thats all there goin to do.
i rather do my own ive had them put to much oil "1qt" to be exact
and another time they didnt put the o-ring on the oil pan nut and there was oil residue all over my wheel shifter and e brake and some dealerships dont use anything to put on the floor or your seat. thats bad customer service

i know i dont want any sweaty greasy boots and pants on my clean seat.and there thieves

do it your self u have piece of mind

Would a dealership like Huntington Beach Mit frown on a evo with downpipe, high cat, catback , walbro and intake? Do I need to detune when it comes time for a maintenance check?

Really depends on the dealer you're taking it to. Around here, I wouldn't think twice about taking it to SCM. Any other dealer on the other hand, I'll just do it myself. Read up on the dealers around you're area and see which are mod friendly.

if your concerned about your reciepts, why not just keep them from when you purchased the oil and filter and record on the reciept or another paper your milage and what not.

last time i had oil change done at the dealer they didn't put the filler cap back on.. and that was the last time they ever did my oil.

diy, oil change is definitely the easiest of all the fluids to do.. well rear diff is a little easier i think
