heres a good story for you.. bought my Evo from Burlington Mitsu in NJ shortly after I moved here from Socal the end of Oct 05.. It was new, had some miles on it but figured it was from being transfered from dealerships.. Got a good deal though, 2k under invoice at the time cuz the 9's were coming out that month....
So after I bought it I did a carfax and found that it had a previous title.. I called the dealership, they said it was a mistake etc.. I noticed some weird things in the car and I started to see that that carfax was the truth.. So I called a lawyer and got them involved with it. In NJ it was a no lose situation for me, since under the consumer trade act, if i lose i pay 0, and if i win I get 100% up to the cost of the car.
So, Lucky me i was at an event and some kid comes up to me asking me if this Evo was mine.. He then told me that this Evo used to be HIS .. hahah I couldnt believe it, talk about the luck. So i get all his info, get bill of sale he had its.. Basically he blew the waterpump out and the dealership tried to screw him over. They had the car for like 5 weeks and he threatened them and they finally gave him another evo. So they took the evo back, put a new waterpump in it and sold it as new.
So when I told my lawyer that i ran into the previous owner she was pretty happy. Well since in NJ when you buy a new car you have to sign a waiver that you cant go to court and have to go to a mediator instead. Well we ended up settling and I got $10k back from the dealership. The legal fees are paid by the dealer as well but didnt come out of my $10k. But still according to mitsu I am the 1st owner so i have full 100% of the warranty (whatever thats worth anyways haha)
So ya dealerships are scumbags and will do anything to screw you over. Amazing you have to do carfax's on cars that are supposed to be new.

Have you run the VIN yourself yet? Talked to the PD where the report was from?

I had an STI for 6 months before I got my Evo. I went through so many problems with that car (an 05) brand new in 4 months time, that I complained to the dealer enough that they agreed to buy the car back at full price. All is well, month or so later guy trades in an 05 Evo with 13,000 miles on it (allot for beng 5-6 months old
)
at the Mercedes dealer I used to work at and I finagle my way into it for only $24,500. And he had already spent $1000 for Intake/Exhaust
.
Then about a week after I buy my Evo, I get a call from a friend in my home town. says he just bought a brand new Black 05 STI and he wants me to come check it out. Sure enough when I get there its my old car
I recognized it immediately because but still checked the VIN with my records just to be sure. He gets pretty upset at this point, as the dealer told them it was their 'test drive' car and thats why it had 3,500 miles on it, and took $750 off the full price for the miles.
Long story short he got a lawyer and got $6500 from the dealership. Only crappy part was that his lawyer took 2 grand as a fee.

Guys after checking on it i found out that the car is been in the accident 1 year after he purchased the car..so its either that or someone made a mistake reporting this car that its been to an accident..But we are very positive that the car that we sold him was Brand new no damge or whatsoever...Here's the screenshot of Experian auto check that shows the accident date..

I really think that this is a big mistake probably someone made a mistake reporting the vin# to DMV or something. We did our Internal investigation on this one and the car that we sold him was free and clear of any damages never been wreck no factory damage or anything like that it was brand new car 100%...
Check the Police report and make sure..
Thank You

So doesn't that mean if the Carfax/Experian report is wrong, THEY will buy the car back from him? That would be sweet.
