Man you guys give some really blinded responses here.

STi = better daily driver IMO.

The rumble is sick as hell i agree.

Both cars have their strengths are sweet.

on 8/25/07 Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ is having a wrx vs. evo day you can see for yourself how a sti competes against an evo drag and autocross.

I had an 04 wrx with sti tranny and bolt ons, nice interior and sound, SLOPPY steering, no power compared with even a stock evo, and bad mileage as well as my room mates 04 sti which burned oil to the tune of a quart to 2 bewteen changes, if youre bored go buy one and give a good review

i wouldnt mind an STi either, technicalities aside, its just a different sensation. i find them engaging to drive and dont think its fair to just rag the subura.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Being an EVO owner (and Fanboy), even I have to agree a lot of the responses are too one sided. The EVO and STi are very similar in terms of performance. Both have their +s and -s. The new 07 STi is faster (better turbo) with better gearing and will alway have the low end torque advantage. Regardless, you have to get what makes YOU happy.

I own both... but if I had to have only 1... it would be the Evo hands down. My Evo is a year older than our STI and it has no rattles, drives smooth (MR with Advan Sport Radials), the shocks dampen bumps and the gearbox has much better gear ratios for city driving. Besides the fact that my lightly modded Evo WALKS and I do mean WALKS, our STI (tuned stage 1, all stock though) The STI rides like a piece of plywood, very springy suspension and hard seats. STI suspension is stock and the understeer is not confidence inspiring at all. I see 3 or 4 STI's every time I'm out The only time I see another Evo is when Evo friends come by my house. The back seat in the Evo can actually hold a full size human being. About the only thing I think the STI does better than the Evo is interior climate control and the fact that the AC does not lug the engine down at all. Oh and the cruise control is nice for trips.. too bad it doesnt have enough room in it to make a road trip enjoyable. But, hey if that's what you want.. go for it. The only people that you will convince that the STI is better than an Evo are the delusional existing STI owners. I do like the looks of the STI, it's white with gold wheels and is a beautiful car. Makes my silver evo look very bland.

07 STI's have some ECU issues. Friends 07 just blew up with a Cobb stg1, exhaust, and intake. Was not covered under warranty. After he did some research he found out he's not the only one and believes the engine was damaged before the Cobb map was put on it. Evidently they lean out. Be careful if you get one and make sure it has the latest ECU revision which corrects the lean condition that is taking them out. I havent done alot of research on this issue but my friend was left with a blown up new STI and is having to go into litigation to get Subaru to fully cover the new engine even though there are numerous occurances of this happening. He only had 3000 miles on the car.

well both cars 4 me are amazing!! my first car was a 2006 STi but i crashed big time, so now i have an EVo IX GSR, and yeap EVo's are faster in quarter mile, handles better, i cant decide which one is better, but faster the EVoS with bolts on, but if you thinking about going BIGG don't let anybody fool UU, ur gonna spend a lot of money For Evo or STi, but if ur just gonna add some bolts oN, EVo's are faster than STi's but better i dont think so, they both incredible for me!, and please nobody buy these cars for looks, its all about performances, and they both delivers in their own wayy..

I like both cars but I am not a big fan of there transmission but I love the sound of there exhaust. I would trade my VIII for a IX before I would go to a Sti.
