EVO to STI
EVO to STI
So lately ive had this burning urge for an STI.. i currently own a TB 06 EVO IX...One of my good friends has a sti and when we chilled he would let me drive it...i drove that thing for about 2 months and now i miss it...the way the engins sounds, how the car handles and everything is makein me fall for one but i dont want to...can somebody please help me get thses evil thoughts outta my head
Well I look at it like this the Evo is far greater to the STI, I have personally driven both and the STI just does not impress me. The STI is quicker to 40 I think but the Evo dominates from their out. The STI runs about 14 psi vs. the Evo 8 17-18 psi and the Evo 9 19 psi. When it comes down to performance its the Evo hands down espically if money is a concern. The STI engine is a boxer engine and costs a lot to mod and even after its been moded you dont get that great of a deal from it. You can spend say 2000 in a Evo and be put into the 11s and spend that amount in a STI and well you will be in the 13s. STI just cost alot of money to mod and are not worth it. Plus I believe the eariler STI suffers from gearing issues and the 5 speed Evo does not. The comparsion list goes on and on
I owned both
sti is more fun with light mods...handling is sloppy though
they sound sick and I was a big fan of the tranny and gearbox
but the evo takes the cake
handles better...more bolt on friendly...mods are cheaper...more history with the 4g63...more appealing
yeah evo > sti

Don't be stupid. My guess is that you just want something different, or something with more luxury, because the STI definitely doesn't handle or drive better. Road and Track had the Evo IX lapping faster than a Cayman S, and I've never seen a comparison between the Evo and STI that ended up in the STI's favor.
Subaru has significantly revised the STI every year since it was released, changing differentials, hubs, and suspension to try to match the Evo, but the bottom line is that the STI still has a basically stock Impreza unibody whereas the Evo's unibody is modified to the point where even the suspension points are different than a base Lancer. Since Mitsubishi had a cleaner slate, the result is a better performance car.
If you must trade, wait for the Evo X. When the Evo X comes out you will still have as much warranty left as the Subarus have when they drive off the lot for the first time. That will count towards resale. Subaru has given up the fight, the new Evo will be both more luxurious and much faster than any STI. S-AWC is coming to the US in pure form with the X, why squander an opportunity by getting a compromised vehicle like the STI.

Eh? You like the way the STI handles? It handles well, but not nearly as well as the Evo and the steering feel isn't close. I've driven my friends STI and it's nicer on the inside, the the extra displacement is nice for daily drivining, and the tranny feels better. But the Evo is certainly the better handling car.

You are feeling sleepy now...
