Black Tar Dripping

My IX has about 4900 miles on it and for the last few hundred miles I have noticed that there are usually about two or three little drops of a tar like substance on the floor of my garage now after each time I drive the car. After searching it seems that some people feel that it is undercoating melting and dripping off. This seems plausible, however I spent some time gazing at the bottom of my car when I turned it off today and noticed that it seems to be beading at the seam at the bottom of where the front of the cat connects. I didn't lift the car to see if it was dripping on top and then oozing around and down to the bottom, but it did not appear to be. Does anybody have any idea what's going on? I'll probably be taking it in for the 5000 mile service soon and will have them look at it but was just wondering if anybody had a solid answer. Thanks.

I had the same concern when I first bought my car and found out it was just the undercoating. This stuff never dries.
