I heard back from the guy with the white Evo. He's the second owner starting at 1,900 miles, 33k but has never had any fluids changed, not even the oil. Aparently in the manual is says that the oil, among other fluids, is scheduled to be changed at 30k. Does that sound right?
i would change the evos oil(synthetic) every 4k...also the white one sounds more like a good deal then the black one.....the only thing that perturbs me about the white one is that he was the 2nd owner after only 1900 miles...why?

Yes 25k will get you a lower mileage 05 MAYBE a IX. There was a nice black ( in ohio for 26000 i think in the for sale section....looked clean i think under 20k miles. Keep lookin man my budget is 25k and im lookin for a stock 05 8 or 9 as low miles and as old of an owner as possible.
Good luck!

Yeah it's tough finding something you like and have all your stuff inline to make a deal happen. Seems like lately, Evos are getting snatched up real fast in my area. Sucks having AMS and Devo so close
An evo thats been beat on? I dont think there is one that hasnt. Like none of you redline at least 5 times a week, and that is what this car was built for, hence costing 30 grand for a lancer. You bought a street legal rally car.
As far as buying that used black evo from a dealer, if it has a warranty go for it becasue what goes wrong can be replaced by them.
On the other hand that white evo from a private owner will probaby end up a sludge motor and your screwed when it pops!
Im not saying that buying a used, somewhat high mileage evo is the best idea but if it comes with a warranty then go for it.

33K oil changes would make me run.
