i just recently got my '05 TB w/SSL, 19k bone stock for $23k from a dealer. i'm second owner.
just like any performance car, do yourself a favor and get stock.
p.s. i also moved from a 300zx TT to evo... i was sad at first but it's aaaallll good now
i'll still buy one again some day as a toy though. the evo is just incredible.

Honestly , An evo being modded , or stock , They are probably driven the same. They are DRIVERS cars. Not ment to put around in by a "little old lady" and evo you buy USED is going to have a DRIVER driving it. Any one that says , Yeah never took the car above 5k , Never gotten on it. etc . Is full of it , They wouldn't of bought an evo to begin with
I heard back from the guy with the white Evo. He's the second owner starting at 1,900 miles, 33k but has never had any fluids changed, not even the oil. Aparently in the manual is says that the oil, among other fluids, is scheduled to be changed at 30k. Does that sound right?

Just last week I picked up my stock 05' TB for 18,900.. but it does have 50k on the clock, but the carfax showed the owner had it in every 3-3500 miles for all the fluids, and maintainance.. still on it's stock clutch and holding strong.
Hi my name is Mildred,

my opinion, once again my opinion i would buy one of these things modded. you dont know what its been through. but if your mind is set then go for it i think you might be able to get it cheaper though because of the year.
5k miles on it. Fully stock. Used but smelled Brand spanking new. LOVE THE
SCENT OF BRAND NEW CAR.

IMHO.. I wouldn't settle for high miles and modded car. I'm sure the previous owner wants a fast car. And what do owners like us want fast cars for? To drive fast. I don't think anyone will disagree w/ me when it comes to feeling that boost hit.

It's funny because everyone says not to buy a used and/or modded Evo. Then you go to the for sale section on this site and people are trying to sell their modded Evos above MSRP or their older higher mileage Evos for 'high' blue book prices? I don't get it. Shouldn't these older '03 Evos be selling for like $17-18k instead of $20-24k if that's the case? I guess someone is buying them. Instead of buying a used Evo I guess it's best to save your money for a few more months and get a brand new one. Why buy a used 2006 for $27 when you can get a brand new one for just a few thousand more.
some examples:
This guy wants $35 for a modded Evo even though people say not to buy one: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=288716
an 06 used MR for $30, save up just a few thousand more and you can get a brand new one: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=286734
another 06 MR and they want $27.5, so from this thread I take it that it would be better to save up about five thousand more dollars and get a brand new one: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=287517
an '03 with 30k miles and they want $22.5 https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=289749
So are these good deals or is it stupid to buy any of these used cars? I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything. I've been seriously looking into buying an Evo, and it seems like Evo owners are saying not to buy used, but then I'm seeing a lot of used Evos that are either holding their values very well, or are overpriced and perhaps not selling.

Research is the best way to find good deals. This site has a lot to offer. In you're first example, the guy want to sell for 35k for a nicely modded car. I think it has been laid out in the ad what mods he did. If you put yourself in this guys shoes would you try to atleast make even or sell it for the most buck because of the amount of money and time spent to make this car as is? the truth is that find what your pocket can afford. Evo's are not cheap specially maintenance wise. It is to you're best judgment what to buy. Its just my opinion to buy a low miles and stock car.
