swapping trunk help
Hello,
I posted on the how to and had no response. I am swapping trunks tonight and wanted to make sure I was prepared with a general process and tools or tricks. I will be doing it almost 2 hours from where I live in a parking lot so I must be ready. I was wondering about the spring bars and if they need to be adjusted or swapped as well. I would like to know about how long it takes and any experience you had doing this. I would appreciate some help. Thanks,
Sigfrid

You're just gonna need basic hand tools, rachet..etc. I swapped my trunk out for a cf one about 2 months ago. It's alot easier to do with two people. From what i recall, they're 4 bolts holding the trunk on. Plus there's either a few screws or bolts holding the lock mechanism into the trunk. Not sure since I'm at work and my evo is at home so i can't take a look. As for the spring bars, if you are swapping trunks from a winged to a rs trunk, I would swap spring bars.
I swapped trunks with an RS in a parking lot. It's really easy once you look at it. Disconnect the trunk release cable and pull it out along with the (unused) wing brake light line. Take off the 4 bolts, trade trunks and do the reverse.
Don't forget to swap locks if you care about that. Me and the guy I swapped with forgot about it, never bothered doing it later - I always use the release lever anyways.
As for the spring bar/arms we didn't do anything with those. It pops up kinda quick without the wing but its not really a big deal unless it bothers you.
