I am thinking of buying a used 04 Evo, and was wondering if the grate on the hood is supposed to have a cover or not because right now the engine is exposed. I am not sure if this would be ok during the winter or when it rains.

 

no cover, does it have the sheet metal vent plate or is it the open mesh, should have the vent plate under the mesh. if so you are good to go. rain or shine

 

They come factory with a grate yes, not sure if I would want rain water or snow landing directly on the ex mani and turbo.

 

i leave mine open no problem's

 

it is two pieces, mesh and under that you got fins.

has mesh with finned cover under that. i dont have the finned cover on mine and so far havn't had any problems. just lots of water spots on engine and piping.

 

it doesnt really matter what it has because it will for sure have a grate/mesh looking thing on it...the vented cover is not going to keep out the elements, theres slots, water and snow is going to get in
