AlwaysinBoost- The car has Gsc 272' . Past that, I am not sure although i could ask the previous owner and he could look it up for me. Is the way you described the only way to fix a compression surge? I am going to check the plugs right now. I will snap a few pictures and post them shortly. thanks

Here is what my plugs looked like... I am going to change them out now. These plugs only have about 800 miles on them, though. I will gap and torque the new ones, as well.

Yeah, wow is right. I they are one step colder then stock also, as that is what AMS recommended from their website. And i believe it is mainly carbon buildup. I am going to go change them now, i just wanted to see what you all say about them. I am very surprised but maybe this was the problem?

Well something has to be causing that... severe boost leaks... tune that is off a good bit... I'll let others chime in they may have better idea's. I don't have any experience with turbos that size (yet)

Well i just drove the car and I something is still definitely wrong. It did drive better with spark plugs at first, but it almost seems as if It needs a re-tune along with a boost leak test. We will see I guess.

What plugs are you running? What did you gap them to? And also, are you sure your maf isn't bad?

I am running NGK BPR8ES. I gapped them to 26-28, like the previous owner told me to do. How would you know if the maf is bad? I unplugged it and replugged it in. Here is a picture:

You would need a logging program to see how it's working... or take your air filter off and everything... if it looks dirty clean it with some alky or something like that. It would have to be broke or really dirty to cause any real problem tho.

Edit: The sensor inside the MAF is what u need to be looking at... kinda doubt that's the issue but it doesnt hurt to check/clean it from time to time.

usually when your boost guage is fluctuating bad like that, it is compressor surge, your BOV opening up, or a boost leak.

Your plugs do have alot of buildup on them for 800 miles. If you arent going to drive your car hard and in the boost all the time, i would drop down to a half step colder. Then when you are going to the track, put the 1 step colder plugs in.

I have checked my MAF filter (it is glued in to stay there so the turbo does not suck it in). How can you fix a compressor surge? Also, how can you adjust the blow off valve (TIAL). I do drive my car hard on the street, usually really easy on it, or very hard... not much in between but I can fix that and be quite happy, haha. I am not sure though otherwise.

pull the air filter off the MAF and make sure the screen is still intact and in one peice. I almost sucked my screen thru my MAF with around 20psi on a 35r.

its never a bad idea to do a boost leak test, that might be why the plugs look a little dark, it should tell you if your BOV is opening under boost too.

if you have a laptop and want to start really learing about your car and how to tune & fix it get ECUFlash and a cable from Tatrix along with a good logging program like mitsulogger or EVOScan. YOu can then start logging to see what is really going on with your setup.

There is MUCH info on this in the ECUFlash forums, check it out.
