Since when? Every warranty I've read says specifically that they warrant proper operation for x miles or x months assuming proper servicing is followed. If you never change your oil and blow up the engine, they won't cover it - nor should they.

Of course, the factory warranty doesn't state that the service has to be performed by the dealer. You would just have to have it documented that it was performed. Aftermarket warranties may be different.

There is no mention of water pump replacement at any mileage in my 2003 service manual.

$2700 for a 60K service on a 2005 MR at Max Madsen Mitusbishi in Downers Grove Il (Chicago Suburb)
$1350 for a 60K service on a 2005 MR at Biggers Mitusbishi in Elgin Il (Chicago Suburb)

HMMM A little variance in price.

And just for laughs they wanted to charge me $200 for a key and programming remotes vs $85 at Biggers.

60,000

$2,700 for the 60,000 mile service.. What all did they do.. Dealers are way to expensive.. I was told over the phone $899.00 for the water pump & timing belt.. So If you have all the fluids changed and the filters etc etc maybe you could get up to that amount..

Slow Boy Racing has a 60K service kit. Think I paid $500 something for it and a new set of Fidanza gears so I don't remember what the cost of the kit was. I know it did come with a new Water Pump and Gates belt, PM them tho they will help you out.

Just DIY!!!

$2700 is insane. Poor consumer that doesn't know any better than to shop around.
