Yes and no. Cruising speed, you can hear the turbo. It sounds like a jet at idling, but it's not loud. WOT isn't bad at all but depends on what exhaust you have and you'd probably want to route the dump tube back into the exhaust if your worried about noise.(the buschur kit dumps to atmosphere) The suction noise at WOT is sweet.
It's tough deciding which kit to buy, all these guys make a real nice kit. Good luck in making your decision.

Thanks for the info, especially since you have personal experience with the kit.

I'll tell ya the main reason I went with the BR kit over AMS or ETS is mainly because of the wastegate set up. The BR kits come with a 44mm that mounts with v bands and dumps to the ground. Also Tial has a sticker on all 38mm gates that says not to use leaded fuels with or no race gas w/ the 38mm. Its something to do with the seals, but the 44mm can handle race gas all day long. Just something to think about.

It has nothing to do with the wastegate but rather with the Valve in the wastgate. AMS uses 38mm wastegates on all of our turbo kits because with our design you do not NEED a 44mm wastegate. the 38mm controls boost just fine with ZERO BOOST CREEP and to top it all off ALL AMS TURBO KITS COME WITH THE TIAL LEADED VALVE FOR THE WASTEGATE PRE INSTALLED.

Price is a very important thing to consider when shopping for anything but getting what you pay for is even MORE important. AMS has proven to produce great HP on EVERY car its installed on, whether its a race car or a street car IT WILL MAKE POWER! There isn't a single kit listed on the internet that is more complete and concise then an AMS kit. We wont leave you holding the bag having to go to the hardware store to install our kit. We send it to you COMPLETE and assembled. We also include Detailed install instructions and also host them on our website. We also put a flex section in our downpipe to prevent any stress on welds due to engine movement. We use an industry first slip fit joint on the Wastegate recirculation to allow for heat expansion and to reduce stress on the welds. Our turbo kit comes with a Support bracket to improve Turbo kit longevity. We offer a lifetime warranty on our header against any imperfections. These are just some of the things you will get with an AMS turbo kit that you will not get with the competition.

It is true that our products cost more then then most but its because we put so much more into our product. You bought one hell of car and you should put one hell of a part on it.

Sure our parts make insane power on street cars but whats a better testament to their reliability and performance then to have these same off the shelf components on our race cars. There isn't a street car out there that is subjected to the abuse that one of our race cars takes in just one season. It's these same race cars that run the very same parts found in our online cart.

A big misconception in this industry is that the higher priced product is so because the company is making more money on it. This is not the case at all. More engineering, better components and a more complete kit yeilds a higher price.

I hope that helps makes your decision a little easier.

Eric

All three of us make a quality kit and each has its benefits. At ETS we design for the best possible performance and quality while keeping your bank account in mind. In the end it's up to you to choose what suits your taste best.

Since warranty was mentioned...because we do extensive R+D to build the best possible kit with quality and longevity in mind, we warranty all of the parts we produce for life. If any ETS product ever has a problem we'll fix or replace the product for as long as you own it.

A turbo kit is a large purchase for anyone and we respect that. For that reason we welcome your phone calls, E-mails and PMs to make sure we get you the package that meets your goals both for your EVO and for your budget.

Well thats good to know, you should think about putting that on you site in your kit descriptions.

Wow, quite a claim from AMS...............good thing we get along well or I'd be all over it

Our kits are complete, you don't need to go to a hardware store to get anything and they also come assembled to go onto the car...........must be speaking of someone else's kits....

As for the wastegates. We do NOT use the 38 mm gate. I never had much luck with the smaller gates and chose to use the top of the line 44 mm gate. We also INCLUDE THE LEADED RACE GAS SEAT IN EVERYONE OF OUR wastegates too. Not including that would be rather stupid since anyone running a turbo kit of these sizes would obviously want to run race gas sooner or later.

Our manifolds are warranteed for life, hell they are cast, not much chance of one ever breaking. The headers are also warranteed.

As for the recirculated wastegates...........we don't do it/won't do it.

AMS makes a fine turbo kit, I've tuned many and they have made great power.

The difference between their's and ours in power..............I'd say using the same turbo, it would depend on other factors who's would come out on top. If the exhaust was at all restrictive ours would simply from free'ing up the exhaust flow from not recirculating the wastegate. Other than that, no difference in power in my opinion.

Iv'e only tuned 3 ETS turbo kits to date.

Can't get any better than this....3 top companies duking it out, trying to persuade you to buy their kit. Good luck with your choice.

Out of the three I'd go with the ETS. IMHO, the AMS consumer parts are overrated. This is just my opinion.

I don't like the 2 piece LICP nor the 2 (or 3) piece UICP. The intercoolers don't impress all that much either (especially when people rant and rave about how its the best IC)

The manifolds look nice but I'd prefer a shearer, ets, or full race manifold over theirs.

I'm not hating on AMS because they know what they are doing and their race car shows it

binh, I don't think AMS's stuff is overrated. How can you say that? They make top notch parts that work, how is that being overrated?

All three of us are passionate about what we do, obviously, we are out there racing, testing etc., on a daily basis.

The passion sometimes gets a little out of control though

There are a number of good quality kits out there, go with who you are comfortable dealing with. Our kits are as complete as they can come and am comfortable saying the build quality and performance you get from a Shearer label product is unmatched.

Cheers.
