California Evos Slower??

A friend of mine told me that in California they make the evos slower?
I couldnt believe him. He said they do that because of emissions. It could be true. I did some searching and found nothing. So was just looking for input and if it was true.
He also said that you have to get certification and register every mod you put on your car?

There are laws that require a Federal vehicle and a California vehicle to be made if the model doesn't meet certain emissions standards. I'm not sure if the Evo is one of those cars though.

edit: It may be all cars or just some, but I know for a fact that there are "California cars"

Yea, but if they make brand new evo 9s with lower hp from the factory, how you supposed to break the law if its already made slow?

all us evo's are detuned in comparison to japanese evos. i'm sure you all are aware of that. but in regards to california, there might me a slight loss in horse power due to their strict emissions and ****ty gas. but other than its all the same around the country. your friend might've just been talking about american evos in general

Everytime you post I crack up man!

Although it does seem that the IX rear is the only thing people on here care about. Your Evo has to have a JDM IX rear or you aren't cool enough to post in show and shine.

CA cars used to have stricter requirements than the Federal Gov mandated. Now all cars have the same emmission requirements. CA we only get 91 and it suck horribly. Stock Evos on 91 usually see around 6 or 7 counts of knock.

91 is common here too, however a lot of the counties do not have any emissions regulations, lucky us
