dude my suggestion is borrow someones car for a few days and drive it, youll either decide its the car for you... or its not the car for you. dont listen to haters... ive seen 8 second civics and evos that pull 14's... anything can be fast / slow so enjoy whatever you get ^_^ and always remember the most important mod is the driver mod bro :-)

I bought my last two cars 600 and 800 miles away. Its not that bad so long as the seller is honest.
Good luck with your new purchase. I attended a major Florida university, but I didn't have the Evo at the time. When I did grad school at another major university in Oklahoma I had the Evo (lightning yellow) and never got keyed. I did get some **** from classmates who knew nothing about cars. Mainly about the wing.
You got to spend some time behind the wheel of this new car. You may not be very happy after a couple of months with your decision. I know I really regretted selling my Evo VIII.

options:
1. change schools
2. remove the wing
however, it seems that along with the hate factor at your educational institution, you want a change. that's cool. the G is a nice ride. you will, however, be stereotyped amongst the evolution crowd...just more hate(you were running from that, werent you? haha!)...why can't automotive enthusiasts accommodate others' appreciation for luxury cars, muscle cars, etc. that is what being a real 'car guy' is about. do what you have to do.

A good friend of mine has an 06 6MT G35......he has spent lots of $$$ trying to add performance to this car.....Cat Back dual exhaust, Intake, Grounding Kit, Tein Coil overs, F/R Sway bars, Falken 452's, plus lots of bling stuff....the car looks awesome, but it is still a dog compared to the EVO. Once in a while we switch up rides on the way to show or the drags......he always gets out of my car with that "holy Sh%t" look on his face...then he murmers some more stuff about supercharging or Turbo;s his his G.......the he adds up all the $ to add boost......and gets depressed......most will tell you that Turbos and SChargers are no issue on VQ35.......but I can tell you from experience on 4 different G's that these motors are built to be N/A....they were not designed to be boosted.....the amount on internal work that is needed to get the reliability you get with the stock car is quite extensive....you really need different cams, a better intake, head studs, injectors, reinforced (forged) internals and lots of tricks to get that heat out of the engine bay. + a good tune!
The best boosted intall we ever did on a G35 we used Paxton based centrifical supercharger system with a FMIC from Stillen......this was a realtively clean install and the results were good on the track and the street.
I think the G is one of the most awesome looking cars out there....just I wish it had the extra go to match the looks......also - about 4000 lbs with us two on board....thats the biggest detriment to performance.
I say "KEEP THE EVO" and get the G too!
Good luck what ever you decide!
