Low RPM 2 step

Do you guys think setting the stock "2 step" to 3-3.5k rpms is enough for an acceptable launch ~1.9 60' ?

Is that enought to pull a smooth launch no bogging, and minimal slippage to avoid glazing?

I'd say it would bogg off the line or fall on its face. I doubt you'd want to do that. Launching is just one of those things where if you're gonna do it, do it right.

Yeah, you would have to do alot of slipping to make that work well....

Well, I was trying to launch the other day. I can successfully do a good street launch at 4.3k rpms. But at 3k rpms I was bogging and it was not a good launch at all.

Holding 3k rpms to launch w/out a 2 step your not really holding any boost at all. The way I see it is if I set 2 step at 3k wouldnt that build boost? If so as long as there is boost it should launch decently with out bogging right? (hope you guys see the logic in my opinion on this)

You are not launching well at 4.3k, and you can't even THINK about launching at 3-3.5k. It would require about 3 seconds of clutch slip, which would kill your clutch in record time. Why would you even want to do such a thing? The 2-step at 3k bounces extremely slow like the car is dying, so there is no load to build any boost. Also, it's not the stationary boost that gives you a good launch anyway. People have just become enamored with the whole "building boost" phenomenon now that we have launch control. Noobs either forget or never even knew that many of us were hitting 1.6s before we even could control the 2-step.

So what your saying is its less abusive to the clutch to use the stock 5k rpm 2 step and do a quicker slip (not a dump off course) rather than a lower rpm with a slightly longer slip?

Oh and I was not doing 3 second slips, that would probably glaze the clutch or something. The only reason I mentioned the building boost is because at lower rpms you dont have power with out boost, and with boost it should give some power to move from the hole.

Thanks,

Very true but I want to last this clutch as long as possible and still have some fun before replacing it.

But very important I do not want to make or break any records. I'm happy with a 1.9 60' while performing a safer launch.

I have the stock limiter and even that kinda messes me up on launching cause its to low. I was running 1.9 60s and it makes me sick Im aiming for 1.6 1.7 at least. 6k FTW

you will never see 1.9 60' launching @ 3k rpm's. just lern how to do it correctly @ higher rpm's and you wont break anything.Trying to make boost and slip the clutch @ 3k is useless and will kill you clutch way faster than a quick slip launch @ 5k-6k

I think if you launch at a higher rpm properly the clutch will last longer then slipping at a lower rpm

Alright, then a higher rpm launch with as little of slip possible will be aimed for.

Thanks,
