i have recently bought my first lancer which has not been on the road for over a year and the battery was dud and the starter motor was shot,since then i have fitted a new starter and the car now starts and runs for around three seconds then cuts out which is driving me insane can anbody shed some light on this problem so i can drive my car rather than it driving me mad

 

Could have got a bad alternator that caused the battery to fail prematurely.

even with the battery fully charged the problem remains the same

 

hmm sounds like a sensor... or a vacuum leak....
