help!!/ a/c does not work when car is not moving

first of all the ac does not work when the car is at idle, stuck in traffic of if the car is not moving. the ac will completely stop blowing cold and just will blow warm air.
but if the car is moving at least 30mph or more the ac is ice cold.

does any one else have this problem

so what do i have to change ???
do i need a new ac compressor???

i was thinking beccause i have a huge 31x12x4 intercooler and a 12" slim fan the car is just not geting enough air flow when the car is not moving.
or do you really think its the ac compressor clutch?

I have this exact problem with my Lancer. My A/C teacher told me the two possibilities were that the compressor clutch was bad, or that there wasn't enough air flow over the condenser.

How hot is it there? When it hits low 100s here the AC has a bit of a harder time keeping cool... Compressor clutch sounds like a better idea though.

I bet your fans are not turning on. You need to have airflow going over your condenser to keep the pressure down and remove the heat from teh refrigerant or the pressure will get too high and the hi pressure cutoff switch will cut off the fun. That should be easy to check, just look to see if the fan is turning on. If it was yoru compressor your ac would not work at all. First thing I would do is look to see if the fans turn on and make sure you have the right amount of 134 in the system.

Do they come on when you turn your a/c switch on? If you was in texas you'd be more than welcome to come over so I could take a look, but that's a bit of a drive

Is it possible that intercooler is blocking airflow to the condenser?
