New Engine

anyone know where i can find a new one for 2003 evo?
or at least a certified used one? i will need to ship it to northern NJ.

i believe my motor is gone for good.
one of my spark plugs came out of the socket and blew up my coil and melted itself to a metallic mass and the first cylinder plug also had the electrodes stuck to each other meaning the piston probably came up too high and hit it.
There are probably metal pieces inside the motor also that turned into ground pepper.

mechanic suggested a rebuild... which one would be cheaper?
rebuild or drop new motor?

Rebuild the engine. I would first pull the head off and check the pistons. You MIGHT be able to just have to rebuild the top of the engine. Good luck to you.

Get a good 4G shop to pull it apart and give you their opinion on your options. If you're lucky, this is just a good excuse for a forged rebuild and stroker kit :]

He needs non mivec engine, you can probably get the full top and bottom end for around 2500-3k and part yours out if its not completely destroyed, or do like me and do the evo 9 swap but it takes a bit more to complete it.

There are some vendors that sell a complete new engine as well.
Here is one with just a quick search.

That's kinda like asking "what does a car cost?". It totally depends on how much was damaged, and what can still be used.
