Yesterday I decided I wanted to go the wingless route for a bit. This is what I found under the wings mounting plates.





Needless to say I am extremely dissapointed. In all the cars I've owned I have never experienced paint/bodywork issues like both of the Evo's I've had. Hoping the dealer can do something about this...we'll see

Lesson, Look under your wings, My Evo is a 05 and has never seen any particular abuse to explain this.

Get used to it. They're all like that. If you don't like the look of that then don't take off your taillights and bumper either...

 

yeah i have some rust under my hood, and the dealer said that they wont cover it unleast is rusted through

 

haha that's why cf trunk and hood is a necessity

 

Just curious, but do you park your evo outdoors or in a garage? Sorry to hear about the rust.

 

Car has been parked in a garage all it's life.

I caught mine early, trunk will still need to get repainted. $300

Don't bother with Mitsu, they'll just laugh at you.

 

It's funny...Everytime I think I know all the spots on my car that need to be repainted I find something else. I'm running out of body panels that still look decent.

 

When I recently removed my wing, I also found rust in literally the same spots as you.

i took mine off last month and it had no rust
it was dirty but no rust thankfully

 

wow sorry bout the rusting issue. I took mine off and didnt have an issue but then again I live in Az

 

I had zero rust on my IX when i took my wing off, purchased 11/05. Parked primarily outside in salt air.

 

if its rusted, the dealer should take care of it, because of the paint protection warranty
