o2 Housing Install
o2 Housing Install
Hey guys im about to install a buscher o2 housing. Honestly how hard is this install? I keep hearing stories of it being hard and all but I guess it depends on the mechanic.
Install time? Best 'how to'? Also should I wait for the install till I get a TBE and LICP sometime in the next two weeks? Thanks!

i think there are 1 or 2 other threads in the how to section also. It is some what difficult. I would wait to do it till you get an aftermarket exhaust manifold.

It's only difficult in the sense that it's time consuming, and some of the bolts need a bit of encouragement (f*!@k) to get loose. Other than that, your just removing things and putting them back on.
I highly suggest having a 3/8's socket wrench with a swivel head, and a cheater pipe. It will make your world a much more wonderful place. And last of all, DON'T FORGET THE BOLT ON THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE STOCK O2 HOUSING IN THE BACK FACING THE BLOCK.
I would wait for the licp before this install, but the tbe doesn't matter. G/L

There's several ways to do it. One is to completely remove the turbo with manifold out of the car. This will allow easy access to the bolts. The other is removing the radiator for more room and hopefully you have all the tools to get to the bolt in the back near the block. Either way, it's a total pain in the @$$ just to change some little piece. I wouldn't want to do it again.

i did the install a couple days ago and it took me a few hours to finish installing the o2 housing. i'm 19 and i dont really consider myself a mechanic. the lower heat shield was the worst. the exhaust manifold wasn't as bad as everybody made it seem. i also had to go out and buy a 22mm wrench for the o2 sensor. also i had a little trouble reinstalling the wastegate actuator. i didnt realize i could just pull it outward and push it on. have fun with the install though. and wear some gloves because when i was removing one of the downpipe bolts i ran the back of my hand into a sharp piece of metal and it took a chunk out of me. and PB Blaster makes everything a lot more easier.

i believe for the exhaust manifold you remove the 2 14mm nuts on the left and right side. and then you remove the top 12 mm nuts from left to right. and then proceed removing the bottom nuts. everything is still pretty fresh in my mind so you can pm me if you have any questions.
lmfao and when you remove the o2 sensor make sure you remember LEFTY LOOSEY, RIGHTY TIGHTY. i dunno what i was thinking when i removed the o2 sensor. i guess it was because i was working upside down at a weird angle and i thought i was loosening it when i was really tightening it. that was embarassing. haha.
