Clutch????

I think that soon i may need to get a new clutch. People i know that have evo's have already got an aftermarket one. When i down shift it makes a weird noise its hard to explain but it does it when i start letting out on the clutch i can feel it in the pedal too. I have launched my car a good bit so i really think im just going to go ahead and get a new one for future purposes too. What i was wondering is what would be the best for the money im not looking for the 1,600 exedy clutch but i want good stuff. And i was wondering around how much would it cost for labor of getting it on, if anyone knows how long of a job it is that would help too. Other than that i am very satisfied right now with it, with just exhaust i beat a K20 hatch the other night it did not have too much done to it just intake headers and exhaust but it was a good race. But again any help is appreciated,

Thanks

k20 are not that faast, are you talking about in an older hatch or 03 model hatch?

Also if you downshift and your hearing a weird noise that sounds like sirens its your xfercase and say buhbye to it

I know the "noise" you are hearing i have/had, it too, and there is 75k on my stock clutch which is holding up just fine. I have never dragged it, just spirited street driving. Do a tranny, TC and rear diff flush and fill and it will remedy that noise. The noise isn't the TC siren noise it is hard to describe but my bet is synchros are getting bad. If I rev on the down shift no noise what so ever, so my vote is tranny synchros and i don't think a clutch is going to help that.

I have the ACT HD and I absolutely Love it. I spent under $2k for it installed. I'm not sure on exactly how long it takes to do a clutch but I heard it's pretty long and extensive. Probably about $700 or so in labor costs.

It can be done in about 3-4 days depending if the mechanic has dont it before and how long they want to take breaks for

true true well the thing is i just recently (last weekend) changed the Tran fluid and i could tell that it has prolly never been changed or its been a really long time. The only thing was that i could not find Diff. fluid for it and did not get to put that in or change it in the transfer case but do you guys know where and what fluid it is ALLDATAPRO.Com does not really say but when i did the tranny the noise actually stopped for a while (4-5 days) now its back so..... not sure its still under 60,000 mile warranty so hopefully i can get it looked at and fixed. Anyways thanks for the help

P.S. a K20 in a 95 eg stripped completly is deff. quick and for evo with just exhaust to beat it is good. just think of the specs.

Evo weight - around 3200 with about 280HP and about 235 to the wheels

VS.

Eg Hatch - around 2200 with 220hp

i mean looking at it seems like he had the upper hand

Just brought mine to the dealership and they quoted me 2100 for OEM clutch and flywheel. Local speed shop(Vivid Racing) quoted me 1600 for clutch master stage 3 and light flywheel. Dealership says its an 8 to 10 hr. job. Vivid is saying 6-8 hrs.
