carbon fiber doors

ok so i had an accident with a deer and now i have a little cash to get a full set of carbon fiber doors. but my question is will putting all four doors reduce the rigidity of the car? will it be dangerous for actual driving conditions? its not a show car so i do drive it.(hence the deer accident)

i think its more for a show car/ race car than for a daily driver... because just imagine getting t-boned with cf doors...

yeah i thought about that, id take the chance if it isn't going to reduce stability.

and full coverage would buy the doors that id put back on.

If your ok with not having reinforcement in the doors go for it. Surely, you will drop substantial weight. As far as rigidity goes, yeah, I would say you'll probably lose a little.

well considering the evo already has a 2 star side impact rating, installing cf doors is probably something you do not want to do, esp in a daily driver. So unless you plan on turning your car into a full out race car that's caged and everything, I'd stay away from buying cf doors. Plus four cf doors are like $7800, which would be better spent on go fast goodies imo.

they had one at Atlantic motorsports yesterday at their BBQ....

them things are VERY light but have hardly any rigidity to them. also they have no place to put door handles on them and no holes for mirrors. im sure you get someone to drill holes or whatever for that stuff.

also if you get in an accident and insurance sees that you have non-reinforced doors, they will not cover it and could drop you

What insurance you got? If they are willing to spend 7-8k on four doors then go for it and at the least sell them, buy stockers and have a few thousand for mods. I totalled my evo and they paid for the remainder of the loan and 4k to me after I showed 7k in mod reciepts. And I think they keep totalled cars that have any good parts they could use to fix someone else.

In my opinion track car or not cf doors warrant a cage for safety.
