Custom Made exhaust vs name brand?

Any incite would help !

Looking for an exhaust(TBE), I've been looking for almost 3-4 months now, and can't choose. I've been back and forth b\t ams, buschur, tanabe, greddy ti, hks and etc. and a custom one.

Everyone I Talk to says its not worth paying for the greddy, or worth paying more then 300-500 for one.

All those are more then 500 new.

I've slimed my choices down, by taking out buschur's, cause i don't like the look.
Greddy ti I love the sound but the price is to much, not sure if ams's sounds like the greddy Anyone ever had both?
Tanabe which i've just recently started looking at them nothing bad so far.
Didn't like HKS cause the 2.75 in diameter.

I was looking into buy used ones, but have had bad experience purchasing used items, so if anyone local is selling one pm me a price, and which exhaust you have.

So my real questions, having one custom made would it show the same amount of power and performance as any name brand exhaust?

And if Anyone knows of a local store around Atlanta, GA or anywhere in GA that has a good rep of making these exhausts?

Honestly a custom made exhaust might not flow as well as an aftermarket one that is designed to flow better. Ive got a 1st gen buschur exhaust and i made 272 at Dyno4mance with just a TBE, intake, MBC, and tune. Thats a good number for a mild bolt on VIII on their dyno. Since you dont like their design though (I dont either, but it came on the car) then go with the AMS. I believe the Buschur and AMS will give you the best gains.

I really cant agree with that stuff man, your conditions changed so you really dont know.

As far as it goes man its a pipe. 3" wide. As long as it is fairly straight and comes out the back its going to make power.

If you are really concerned with 3 or 4 whp for $600 then your evo must be slow because 3 or 4 whp for the big guys is a joke.

Buschur is the best looking exhasut IMO But if you don't like the look, I'd go with AMS. If you're looking for something cheap, go with Megan. Alot of people seem to like the Megan TBE, and they're cheap. Good price at www.lancershop.com.

The only reason i don't like buschur's is because it looks stock, it might have the most gains tho

Unfortunate for you that someone screwed you in the past. Most people on the forums are usually pretty reliable when it comes to used parts and their condition. The tanabe has a 2.75" downpipe. This shouldn't hinder you at all unless you are planning to upgrade the turbo later on. A friend is running an MR 8 with a 2.75" downpipe and 3" exhaust with the FPgreen and is making close to 380 whp @ 25psi...on a Mustang Dyno which is normally a little lower reading than some other different brands of dynos.
For your choosing, that's a tough one. I personally have a tanabe downpipe, 3" test pipe and full 3" magnaflow catback and I love the way it sounds. I am upgrading my turbo soon, but the kit comes with a full 3" downpipe, so I'm now worried about that. You can get most anything in 3" that will fit very well. So finding the right look, sound and price for you personally is generally what it's all about.

Thanks for the incite, I guess i should have a local evo meet with different types of exhaust and have each one rev them so i can choose
