well i say if you want it, and are pretty sure you can pay for it, GO FOR IT hah. I bet the family would like it and the kids will be begging for rides in the car hahah. Also, if you get it used, the value stays HIGH check it out on the blue book for yourself so you can probably always sell it back to someone....

If you decide to spend a few thousand rebuilding the motor on the integra, its not going to come back when you sell the car. You will see better residuals on the Evo especially if the X flops.
Honestly I think you should look at the 3 series if you're going to commute 100 miles per day. Its a bit cheaper on the gas and much more comfy while not being much slower than an Evo

check your insurance, trust me ones you get an evo, you will start to mod it, and dont tell me you wont, because it starts with just an exhaust and you will end up with different turbo :0

The mileage is not any better on an MR. The 6 speed just has short gear ratios which means more shifting. The 5 speeds are much stonger too.

Trust me I know! I've planned on it.

I can definately relate. I have a 94 Teg GSR and was/am in the same boat you are in right now. I love the car, and the fact that i could have in completely built and finished for like 7k, but i really wanted an evo. I found a good deal on an Evo, and now i own it and am trying to decide if i should sell the Teg or not. Im really up in the air about it, so i know how you feel...

I have a 96 GSR with 218k and have no problem with daily use. So if the Teg is good, save it for daily driving. Dont build the motor. USe the money and buy an MR as a second car. I would go that route!

If I were you I would get a used EVO, maybe a 2003 or 2004 and keep the Teg for driving to and from work. You have a car that is paid off, which is awesome. I have actually been thinking about buying a 91 Civic hatch just to drive to work and/or drive when the company is reimbursing me for mileage. It is also nice to be able to switch between cars so that you don't get sick of one. Sometimes I find myself getting sick of the EVO but then I drive the wife's car for a couple days and I love the EVO again.

I am not sure what a used IX is going to run you but I know you can get a really nice 03 for about $20k. That is a heck of a lot cheaper than a IX and is still a boat load of fun. Just get a flash and exhaust for less than $1k and you will be in the high 12s. That way you will save a ton of money and still have two cars.

Keep the DA and get an older EVO that can be bad *** for $1k. The extra money you will spend on the IX isn't worth it. Just my thoughts.

Oh yeah and don't build the motor of the DA. Spend that money on the EVO. Keep the DA as a daily driver. If you put $5k into that motor you will still be slower than a stock EVO, and a lot slower than an 03 with exhaust and flash. You will also still be rolling around a DA. Not that they aren't awesome, but it is no EVO.

Like everyone said, keep the teg and rather than puttin all the money in the teg buy the 9 mr. The money u put in the teg can be used to pay for the evo for a while. U wont regret it. Keep the teg as a dd and the veo to have fun, cruise etc.

good luck

You dont want to drive an evo 100 everyday.....unless you are willing to fill up every other day. If I was u i would just buy the Evo and keep the Teg for DD.

think about it before going with MR... lots of people (including me) prefer 5 speed over 6 because it's just less shifting... but if you're going to be driving long highway miles every day it may not matter as much to you.

also, if you're planning on heavily modding your evo down the lown, don't go with an MR... research a bit first MR vs. GSR vs. RS

Thats the way I'm thinking also. We figured the cost or an LS/V and a built B18A boosted and the cost was $5K for the all-motor plant and roughly $8K for the boosted setup. But, the LS-V isn't extremely reliable and the turbo motor will be putting down so much power that I won't want to drive it everyday. I don't know. It'll be nice not having a car payment, but it would be nice to have a newer car that I can still enjoy. Even stock.

We have looked at the STi, G35 sedan, TL-S, IS350, and then the IX MR and SE. I wanted the more simplistic side so we decided to consider the Evo and the STi. After driving the STi and the Evo IX, the Evo got my vote hands down. Plus the fact that the flat-4 is a pain in the a$$ to work on.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions. Its all up to me and I didn't realize this thread would cause such a stir. Thanks guys!

Thats what I've been reading. Everyone likes the 5spd more. I was told the 6spd is basically more gears stuffed into the 5spd tranny.

I would keep the Honda as a DD and buy the Evo for your fun/cruising with buddies car.
I had my Evo as a DD for a while and it sucked. It got beat up and cost a lot of $$$.
I went out and bought a Nissan Versa and have the Evo gutted right now in the garage
Also a modded Honda is only going to keep you happy for a little bit, and then you will probably get bored of it or its limitations. An Evo has almost unlimited potential in multiple categories and can keep your interest for a long time.
