Stick to stock! I would not put any cheap filters on the car, they do not have the proper burst rating, they usually do not flow as well, & worst yet, they don't filter as well.

If you want to test for your self, put in a oil pressure gauge & see the difference with OEM VS cheap. Then get the oil tested with the OEM VS cheap, & see all the extra stuff that is in there.

IMHO, this is not a place to save $5 on.

you can get the oem filters for $5. I've done a search on purolator (as per above link to forum posts) and it seems other people have nothing bad to say about purolator (unlike say... fram).

FYI: the Pure One was rated a best buy Oil filter for last year. It beets the HELL out of the Frams. thats the same people that make the OEM filters for Subaru. In other words....These filters are NOT junk.

Purolator is definately one of the better filters out there and the Pure One is the is the better version of the standard purolator filter. I used them in every car I've had partly because they are available at my local strauss three blocks away but I have read reviews on these filters and have always seen positive results.

Pure 1 Is by far the best filter for the money. I run them, have ran them for years.
Don't listen to the people who knock them, they need to invest some time in reading the literature. And by no means is this a cheap filter.

Good find.

I agree with the quality of Purolator, however I can't remember if the Pure One is the filter I tried and felt uncomfortable with because it was taller then OEM. The OEM filter isn't in the most ideal spot so adding length to it in spite of quality filtration just doesn't jive with me. I can't remember if they're taller or not. Anyone?

well ill compare them when I get them in a couple days. But... I don't do a lot of off roading nor do i have crazy bumps / potholes in my area, so if it sits a little lower than oem, oh well.

Cut open a stocker and a pure 1 and see for yourself. It is a bit taller to accomadate the flow through the (better) filter element. It filters in microns.
I don't feel the extra 1/2 of an inch is going to put me in harms way.
