Can anyone here confirm the paint different in the 03-05 models of black and the 06... I have an 06 and I'm afraid to order a JDM bumper because of this paint difference..

u do realize that the jdm rear bumper does not support the US rear bumper support and when a shop goes to put ur new fancy pants back bumper on and it doesnt bolt up cause the bumper is in the way they will not use it

Funny that you mention this. I am planning on ordering this bumper early next year to replace my damaged rear bumper. I knew that the US bumper support didn't work, and I wondered if a "normal" body shop would have any issues installing it? It has to be modified or removed, right?

I try to do my own work when I can, but my car will require some expertise to fix dents and straighten out a few things, so I'm just wondering if a body shop will touch it....

Thoughts?

I guess it depends on if the body shop has any worries about litigation if you are ever in a rear end collision. When I had my crash beam modified, it was done by a fabricator that I know so there were no issues. You will need to remove the crash beam, fabricate the license plate bracket, and toss the styrofoam crush support that also cannot be mated to the JDM bumper. best case scenario is thinning out the crash beam to accomodate the jdm bumper then putting it back on so you have some crash resistence on the rear end. Good luck.

so in order to install a jdm rear IX bumper is there alot of fabrication needed?

I heard that there is an aftermarket crash beam designed for US evo owners that want their rear bumper replaced by JDM ones

anyone confirm this?

You can remove the crash bar beam, its only a minimal safety precaution, its you get hit hard from behind it isnt going to help at all. The only REASON you would even want that crash bar beam there is if you ever sued someone because of an accident and they could prove you have removed a safety item from you car. Other than that, its worthless so "no" there isnt a lot of fabracation, you can do it at home.

I just installed my JDM IX rear this last weekend, and it did take me like 4hours, however, I was dily dallying around and took my time on the lisence palte modification.

I am going to be modifying my stock crash beam like shown Here. Then I will make my own that will be similar to This.
