Need Help ASAP!@!!
i have like a year left and stock other then wheels, lights and k&n filter, finally got them to take it and replace the 5th gear, but now the issue is that its my clutch and not my tranny?????
The tranny still grinds when in neutral going down a hill and then shifting back into 5th going up the hill... the tech drove it with me in the car and he couldn't prevent it from happing trust me he was tryn to prevent it from happing because he doesn't want it covered under warranty..
If your clutch is not disengaging properly you will have the symptoms of bad synchros. Your synchros may be bad but if the dealership is telling you its the clutch then its most likely true.
they are sayn its not engaging correctly not sure if disengaging and engaging are different... but just asking...

Look...If theyre saying you clutch is the issue and you agree that's its slipping then it's time to get it replaced. If after all of that you still have a tranny issue, you'll probably have a better argument. Did you really expect them to spend the $$ replacing synchros if they feel its a worn out clutch? Me either.
Bottom line, replace your clutch then go from there.

Decide if you want to keep the stock clutch or go with a twin disk ( I wouldn't reccomend using an upgraded single disc clutch), replace the clutch, THEN if the 5th gear still grinds they need to replace the synchro.
I ended up going to Justin Mitsubishi in Cartersville. They are not open anymore.
They have moved to Calhoun but will not touch an Evo with mechanical problems. They did, however, replace all four of my calipers with no questions asked.
Oh, and for the record, my clutch was replaced completely under warranty with
11k miles .
