bleed the clutch line...I don't get how not engaging fast enough does anything. It does sound like a syncro problem though. Try double clutching.

If your clutch is not disengaging properly you will have the symptoms of bad synchros. Your synchros may be bad but if the dealership is telling you its the clutch then its most likely true.

Look...If theyre saying you clutch is the issue and you agree that's its slipping then it's time to get it replaced. If after all of that you still have a tranny issue, you'll probably have a better argument. Did you really expect them to spend the $$ replacing synchros if they feel its a worn out clutch? Me either.

Bottom line, replace your clutch then go from there.

I agree with you on that but, i really don't think the clutch is slipping cause you would feel it, its just engaging late... in 1st other then that it holds rev's all the way thru.... but that might be my only way out.. so i'll looking into it

"you're"

Sorry couldn't avoid it.

As far as your problem. I seriously hope you get the dealership to replace it because mine does the same thing.

There must be a miscommunication between you and the dealer. If they are saying that they will not warranty your synchros and that its a clutch problem it is because it is not disengaging properly.

Decide if you want to keep the stock clutch or go with a twin disk ( I wouldn't reccomend using an upgraded single disc clutch), replace the clutch, THEN if the 5th gear still grinds they need to replace the synchro.

I ended up going to Justin Mitsubishi in Cartersville. They are not open anymore. They have moved to Calhoun but will not touch an Evo with mechanical problems. They did, however, replace all four of my calipers with no questions asked.

Oh, and for the record, my clutch was replaced completely under warranty with
11k miles .
