Purchasing an Evo

I am looking at purchasing an EVO IX MR. If the car is maintained and in good condition at 39,000 miles, is $25,500 a reasonable price?

Are there any scheduled maintenance that should be done besides the basic oil change during the first 40,000 miles from the owner?

So you're saying that $25,500 is asking too much since I will need to do some maintenance in a couple of 1k miles?

I am searching while I'm asking but how long does the stock clutch last on an average user that knows how to drive manual? What is the first major maintenance job? The first 30k, 40k, 50k, 60k miles?

I think it's a good price. There's two things you need to look at. It was either driven alot on the highway which is good or it was driven alot in traffic which isn't as good. So just figure out if the owner lives far from his destinations because if he does i'd say it was driven mostly on the highway which means less abuse.

Wait until the X is released and you'll see so many IXs and VIIIs on sale it'll make your head spin. Prices will drop substantially IMO.

Age of driver makes no real difference because some old-timers have lead feet as well. Bottom line is, the mileage is high, the price is high. Be patient and find one with lower mileage, even at the possibility of shelling out a couple of grand more. At least your mind will be at ease knowing you technically have a "newer" vehicle and that you had the opportunity to enjoy putting the mileage on, not someone else.
