Dont take it off. Just tape and paper everything off and spray it on the car. Much easier to do IMO. Did the RS's front and rear in red that way and came out 100%

on my evo 8 I was able to rip it off with my hands no sctracthes. I just tossed it cuz I don't like shiny and blue together.

Just bear in mind that there is an indentation with holes in it for the emblem to sit. I took mind off once and it looked awful

Otherwise, dental floss and a heat gun.
