Modification pathway questions
I have the Bushwhacker transmission build from Buschur on the list. Do you think that there would be a significant impovement going with Shep? I know he has a great reputation, but would the Bushwhacker be sufficient for my goals?
Thanks
Thanks
With everything you have listed and with the money that you can drop in with a fully built motor like the one listed you should go 35R and you should be able to have probably high 9000 rpm pulls. Which from what i hear is where the 35R shines. You are going to get mixed emotions on the 30R vs. 35R spool and lag but with a TS its supposed to be totally different to drive. Another thing i saw you want to go with buschur COP, i believe kami speed sells the Okada plasma ignition which is a direct replacement for the stock ignition and is supposed to be really sick. That and the fact you will being going with a bigger turbo kit and VTA BOV you will need to take care of that. I know you can get maft pro or a GM MAF blow through for this set up but not totally sure if you can just get it retuned so it will be fine but i think you will need some kind of maft pro or something along those lines. I dont see why you would have any problems with the bushwhacker tranny kit. I heard good things about it and i myself want to go with it. I forgot who it is but i believe there quote is "This things so dam reliable because of Buschur parts" It might not be exact but its something like that.
And so you know im no mechanic or speed shop guy just love my evo and makin it go faster. I just try to pick up everything i can here on EvoM. But from the sounds of it with the money from the Supra (which i would never be able to part with) you will have a fully built car. With a head like the one you describe though you should definitely get a 35R so you can at least use it to its potential. Which are some high RPM pulls that i definitely myself want to go for.
Thanks for the input.
Jarrod at Buschur actually recommended the 35R but I am just so happy with where the stock turbo spools up that I am not sure that I can go quite that big. But it will be easy to swap out the turbos later if I get the "more power" bug.
I don't want to sell the Supra but I don't have a good option at the moment. I drive the Supra on nice days (never in the rain or after it rains) but am too scared to leave it in the parking lot at most places (including work). The kids don't really fit in the back now and will not even be close to fitting in a couple of years. So I have a stock daily driver Evo and a BPU++++ supra that I can't drive everywhere. It would take about $15,000 in parts to take the Supra to the next level: Built transmission, fuel system upgrade, AEM EMS, single turbo upgrade. But I don't have the money to do it because I have both vehicles. My wife says I can't spend money on the Evo until I sell the Supra. Between a rock and a hard place.
Not an easy decision, but the Supra has to go.
