my comp 280 experience!!

well i know there many posts about the comp 280's but i figured i would add one more.

caution when installing these cams!! I had to cut the bolt that goes into the cam that tightens down the sender for the cps. it bottomed out before it tightened.

ok now for the results....first i need to say thanks to engine logics in houston for yet another great experience. there dyno is a dyno dynamics and stock evos are only puttin down between around 205 on this dyno. my first tune was with a header, perrin catless tbe, mbc (21psi), and a cone filter. i put down 249.8 whp and 223 ftlb. this was a pretty mild tune but car felt great. i then put comp 280's, upper intercooler pipe, custom intake pipe, fuel pump, and 680 inj (just to be on the safe side) i now put down 300.2 hp 250.1 ftlb, boost was the same....hitting 21 then droping down to about 17psi. and man the car feels great, crazy toped and a pretty good gain before peak. i know all this means nothing without a graph but ill work on gettin it on the comp.

quick run down:

stock evo: 205hp (dyno dynamics aka the heartbreaker)

header, tbe, mbc (21psi), filter: 249.8 hp, 223 ftlb

added comp 280's, uicp, intake, fuel pump and injectors: 300.2 hp 250.1 ftlb

fyi: the cams are on stock cam gears so im sure there is alot more with some adj. cam gears. i am very very impressed with these cams, idle is kinda a pain but sounds very mean tho.

Am I missing something here...

You only got 40whp with your header, tbe, and mbc?

That seems a little low to me.

Comp 280's totally changed the feel of my car, best upgrade I've done so far. I had mine installed straight up as well and it drastically changed my powerband. Its nice to finally have a reason to shift above 5.5k.

That dyno is a heartbreaker. I dyno'd at 271 hp and tq with just MBC, downpipe, testpipe, stock catback and tune. Boost was set at 22psi and falling to 19 or so.

the only issue was the bolt bottoming out, other than that it was normal. and i got these from lancershop.com there about 450 for the set and according to there web site there in stock..

and yes this dyno reads very very low, and im only at 21psi and dropping to almost 17 at the end, i was kinda depressed after the first dyno until i talked to a few ppl that have been on that dyno. i was told that there is about a 23 to 24 percent difference between this dyno and a dyno jet so if i was on a dyno jet i would have been around 300-310 and with cams around 370-380. but the actual numbers dont really matter, all i was looking at was the overall gain after the cams.

anyone worndering about bottom end hear are the gains per 1k rpm

3k:2hp 5tq
4k:10hp 10tq
5K:30hp 25tq
6k:45hp 50tq
7k:55hp 45tq

these are just rough comparison from the graphs. (on a dyno jet the numbers per 1k rpm would be 23-24 percent higher). hope this helps anyone that is worried about the 280's at lower rpm, yes the s1's or something might give you more arould 3 or 4k but after that its a blowout.

your torque is low for that power level, should be 270+. We dyno on mustangs in Norcal, and they also read really low, but 300 wheel usually has a lot more torque.
