You are on the right track,sort of...........The o2 sensor that is located by your turbo is most likely dying and that is causing your fuel mileage to be affected.
It may not yet be failing to the point of setting your Service Engine Soon light but in time it will if in fact it is failing. I do have to Disagree with you on the recommendation of replacing it with an aftermarket one.Just spend the money and purchase the FACTORY o2 sensor and it will save you time and gas in the long run.Those aftermarket ones are Cheaper and also inferior and will usually turn off your S.E.S light,but for how long and at what price(hint:fuel mileage while in closed loop operation).There is other factors that contribute to fuel mileage and the main concern has to do with the gasoline that you use and the additives used by the refiner when refining the gas.
Good luck with your choices when attempting to correct this concern...

SInce these guys are recommending o2, maybe now is the time to invest in wideband...forward thinking huh?
