mitsu doesnt install aftermarket stuff??

i got a blown T-case and i asked for a stronger shep T-case and the dealer is refusing to install a aftermarket part. I could just take it somewhere
else to install but I would have to pay towing fee and they tore down my drivetrain and i need to pay them labor charge of 8hrs which isnt real cheap.
what would you guys suggest? just go somewhere that would install the shep t-case? If i get the OEM T-case they would use the 8hr laber of tear down they did on the installation fee. So i am at a little trade off here. Should i go with shep spending much more or just get oem and get it rebuilt later. But since its my DD i really dont have the time to get in rebuilt anytime soon. I am thinking of trying to get them to install it. But they just come at me like a wall no aftermarket part installs. was wondering any of you got mitsu to install aftermarket stuff. if so how did you talk em down to do so?

Just go pick up your case from the dealer and ship it out yourself. When it comes back tell them you just had someone rebuild it for you because you didnt want to buy 1 from them.

Why didn't you find out if they would install the TC you want before letting them tear it down in the first place ?

Shep uses stock cases?

They look about the same?

Am I being obvious enough?

*wink wink*

Oh, and if Shep does not use stock cases, then n/m cause I was just guessing

i didnt know if the problem was the T-case. They tore it down to find out what the problem was.
And i guess sending it to shep myself would be a method if the dealer would install it.

ditto. that was his first mistake. i'm a service advisor myself and i've seen situations like this before. i dont see why they wouldnt install a shep unit for you though. granted you would have to pay what ever amount labor your into right now (8 hrs) plus install for the new unit. they obviously wouldnt guarantee anything but it still might be an option for you atleast. if you chose that route just explain to them that you would like to provide your own new replacement t-case instead of having it rebuilt in house. my best suggestion for where your at now, let the dealer rebuild the t-case and move on. if you do end up wanting to upgrade your t-case then you can always sell your freshly rebuilt one for a fair amount to help to recoup your losses.

Kick *** idea^! Thats what I would do because if all hell breaks lose again they "think" its under warranty still and its an "OEM" part. If you force them to install the SHEP and it breaks guess what you are SOL buddy. sabastian458's got the idea.

It seems this dealer will not install any part that they did not provide. If I wanted to go aftermarket, I would have asked them this in the first place.

You're screwed. If you are money tight, then have them put in the factory case, otherwise have them box up your car parts, pay them for the work they did and take it to a place that will install it for you

It depends on the dealer, some do and some don't. I would highly recommend Shep tarns or Team Rip for rebuilds.

It is real simple let them install the TC and then drive home order a Quaiffe from Shep or roadrace engineering then jack up the front of the car. Take the front passenger side wheel off. Take of 2 caliper bolts (17mm) i think. Take off 2 strut bolts also (17mm), purchase or rent or check the place that do a loan a tool program, slide hammer kit from NAPA Part#BK 8213917

First take off the under tray, two cross bars, and the downpipe.
Then take a pry bar and pry off the CV from the TC shaft.
Then find the right size bolt to go in the end of the top arrow in the picture. Screw it into the TC shaft thats sticking out of it and start hammering it out of the TC. Do the same to the drivers side taking off the wheel, strut bolts, CV, and the long shaft that goes through the tranyy and into the TC. Then take The TC cover off and pull out the diff inside and install your Quaiffe. The instructions are in the how to section. Dont be scared and make sure you use the right fluid. Good luck

Then its just that dealer. They're gonna tell you your drivetrain warranty is nill if there is any problem GENERATED in direct response to the T-case or part in question, for that matter.

On the other hand, go get the t-case, ship it out, get it back and hand it to them.

They shouldn't give you ANY problems. If they do, start fighting the ranks.
