Gsx & Evo
The Evo engine is a version of the 4G63 not the same one. There have been several versions of it over the years. The most obvious difference is tha they are facing opposite directions. But there are many other differences.
I think in general, both 4g63s are the same. Both operate the same, they operate as any other engine does. Aside from the visual differences like the high valve cover, the reversed layout, and internals that are made out of different materials, I think the main factor that is different, is the ECU.
The drivetrain however, is highly advanced in comparison to a gsx, just ask Shape about that! He could go on for hours.. hehehe =)

I had a 99GSX prior to the EVO VIII and the GSX is a really nice car. But if you want a sports car the EVO is much faster / handles better, out of the box. You can mod the hell out of the GSX ( and the EVO ). Its really up to you
My 97 GSX (traded for evo) felt heavier but was certainly softer ove rthe bumps to some degree. The seating position in the GSX was lower howevere the EVO will certainly out perform it in every category, except maybe looks...but that's just me. I love dthe GSX looks slightly more than the EVO.
I still have my old 98 spyder GST and it handles like an absolute pig compared to the EVO. Not to mention the suspension, brakes, steering, handling, structural integrity are OH SO Sloppy! Along with the gear shifter feel.
Granted, Eclipses of old can be modified, like everything else out there to perform similar or better than a stock EVO.
BUT...no matter how hard you try, and unless you have EXTREMELY deep pockets. A modified car will 99% of the time always still end up feeling like a Tuner job.

Ok, it might just be the angle or the lighting in the pic itself.
But it looks to me like it may have had body repairs done to it. The nearside headlight seems out of alignment, as does the 1/4 panel and hood where they meet above the light cluster....and the hood looks like it is of a slightly different color or texture than the rest of the car.
