05 or 06 Evo?

05 or 06 Evo?
Guys,
My brother is looking to buy a Evo and has two choices. One is a 05 TB SSL with some aftermarket parts already on it, 51K miles, was involved in an accident (not totaled) involving a deer but the bodywork is near flawless except for a little tiny gap passenger panel and head light (see pic in link). The dealer is offering $21K OTD. His other choice is an 06 SE with 11K miles for $28155 OTD. Which one should he choose...the newer, but more expensive one or the older, not picture perfect, but runs strong and already have minor mods on it?

go with the 06 for sure. A used modded wrecked evo will more likely have 5k worth of issues vs spending more on an 06. Plus the mivec is worth it in the 06.

Get the IX that is unmodded. If it is truely unmodded its the best bet for least being beat on. Also unless you know first hand that it "was a deer" then you dont know the extent of the damage. A deer can cause some pretty serious damage to a car that could potentially cause suspension problems.
Besides that the IX's mod response is better than the VIII's for less money plus it has less miles on it so that should be an easy decision.

Another reason in addition to the ones people have listed is the fact that SSL sucks (IMO), it's extra weight, a hole in the roof (whoop-de-freakin-doo, weight in the worst possible spot), a sound system (it sounds like your bro will mod, a nice exhaust will kind of make a sound system not make much of a difference), and leather. Well leather is nice, but still no.
