Yeah you're most likely the unlucky one Kazoo. I honestly don't know why people are making the transmission case blown out of proportion. I understand the clutch is horrible, but the transmission hasn't had a lot of problems, since it's the same one that's been on every previous Evo, and they haven't suffered from a lot of problems.

yeah its too early yo tell just yet but there have been quite a few people with tranny problems. Just look at all of the Transmission orientated threads. None of them are small threads. A lot of people seem to be having one problem with their tranny or another. My guess is that people are driving these cars pretty hard from the getgo and dont give them much rest. Just consider yourself one of the lucky ones (for now atleast)

Ok, so i guess nobody remembers that a new car get 20% taken off as soon as you drive off the lot. It is a fact, so lop that off your price paid then factor in your mileage ("normal" driving is 10-12K mi PER YEAR, more than that= drop the price), condition of the interior, and condition of the paint. the kicker is gonna be the mechanical condition. If there is any problem list it and be honest, you can be caught if you lie (i.e. lawsuit from the new owner). Expect the price to drop with every issue, if the clutch is crap drop the price about as much as a new clutch would cost, etc. for each problem.

My guess is that paranoid people hear stories from paranoid people who think the road noise from thier tires is a transmission problem etc.

SickWitIt - I PM'd you, but no response....if you're interested in selling your Evo, e-mail me...I have a friend that is interested. I'm interested in mileage, car color, options, and anything else about the car that you can mention.

None of this is hard and fast fact.

The 20% depreciation only effects normal market vehicles. It usually does not apply to brand new models, limited production models, or cars that are sought after by enthusiasts but are limited in market availability.

The normal vs excessive mileage thing only really takes effect once cars get past their warranty periods. Because it is only then that you could reasonably expect the excessive mileage will rack up excessive maintenance costs. The Evo is only a few months old. You can't possibly extrapolate any surcharges based on the mileage a car has at 3 months of age.

As I understand it, you can only get sued if you purposely witheld info about your car that led to further problems or issues.

Clutch is crap? What does that even mean? IF the clutch is broken, the owner would likely not sell the car in undriveable condition. And once the clutch is replaced, the car would actually be worth slightly more (down the line) because it is a wear part that has been replaced.... ie the new owner won't have to do it.

And before anyone can judge a good used price for a car, there have to be a few instances of the car actually being sold in used condition on the market.

By saying the clutch is crap ,I mean alot of them are going out and even under normal driving conditions. This is the only BAD thing I can say about the Evo VIII.

Well..
A Used EVO with under 10,000 miles is worth anywhere from $27500-$29,500 depending on condition and features...

Seriously..

These are retail numbers, and definately realistic..
Color is important and silver seems to be the desitrable color...
Yellow, Blue, Black, and Red are less desirable..
NO flames please, seriously though, people will pay more for a silver car because the market is broader....

As far as the Pit Pass goes, if a car has one with it for these numbers..BONUS!!

After calculating initial costs, tax, pit pass, etc. A used EVO ai'nt a bad deal at these numbers..

IF you can find one..

Why would someone pay that much for a used EVO when you can walk into a dealership and buy one new for that much. I think 27-27.5k is a realistic number with VERY low mileage. I laugh every time I see an ad for a used EVO with a couple thousand miles on it for 29k . If i'm gonna pay that much, I want the piece of mind that I am the only one who has driven it. Just my .02, but good luck with selling your EVO. Hopefully I will be in the market soon after I get my house situation taken car of.

Cheers

well

Ive gotten offers from 32, to 30 on a new evo

and the piece of mind knowing that i drove the vastmajority of the breakin miles is enough for me to pay the extra 2-3k for SURE over stuff like a used evo for 29.. thats freaking rediculus IMO and will never seel, espc when theres places selling for 500 over invoice (like 28.5 for a NEW evo at most)

but you never know. some sap might come a long so i guess you always have to try.. though if your selling an evo this soon after buying it your obviously hurting for cash..... and why risk it with over pricing?
