Need work done - Mitzu. dealer, or private shop?
My 5th gear is grinding, so I'm gonna use my warranty to fix it. Should I go through a dealer, or find a place that works on Mitzubishis? or does it not really matter? Thanks
Questions:
Is the car stock? If it is, go get it fixed at the Mitsu dealership. Check their service history, or post on the forum here to see if anyone ELSE has had the job done, and see if they are happy to do it.
On that note, I took the opportunity to install the best clutch my wallet could buy, a Cusco Two Disk. Not a perfect clutch, but driven easy it lasted 50k or so.
I had problems a week later and they adjusted the clutch improperly and the mechanic who did the install admitted it, so they were liable. I never took the car back after that, as I had a BAD experience with the shop manager. The dealer is closed, so no need to mention names.
ANYWAYS! If you choose this, it'll probably void the warranty.
I'd say get it fixed back to stock "perfection" (haha). Buy a new stock clutch just to get a jump on the game and leave it.
When/if it starts to do it again, then I would proceed to send it to Shep/TRE and replace it with a high perf clutch at that time.
This will get you the most miles out of it, but any way you choose, it winds up being a PITA.
