im done with the lancer, going for evo. what do yall think?
Because it's annoying. If he were quoting different posts back-to-back, then that would make sense, but for the guy to make a whole new post every time he thinks of something new rather than just editing his last post is a little redundant. Sorry, it's something that an adult would do... not just mods.
Anyway, what's the deal with this '00 Viper that your account says you drive? Or is that your daddy's?

two things.
1. who cares what other people think or say about your car? if you love it, and you are happy with it, F them.
2. evos cost alot to maintain. especially compared to other cars. keep in mind oil changes are a minimum of 40 bucks basically, if you do it yourself. tires cost an arm and a leg. premium gas costs a bunch, and evos are pretty exspensive for any mods you might want to do.
ultimately you are the only one that knows if you can afford it or not. other than the question of money, i doubt you will find many people on here that will tell you not to get it. this is an evo forum after all.

I agree with MondoBongo, not to mention brakes, rotors, t-case oil, tranny gear oil, and rear differentials which need maintenance also. I could get away with cheap napa brand oil+brake pads etc. for my prelude but when it comes to the Evo, why buy a performance car like that and then don't treat it right?
I would say if you want it bad then buy it, but then again if you are financially tight then I say not. I don't regret buying my car, it's what I really wanted for a long time, and being in college and working two jobs to pay for car payments+insurance is not easy. Even with my dad's name under the insurance, the price is still high. My situation is very similar to yours, I sold my car, made a down payment, and took out a loan around 13k. Also you have to think about interest rate, and loan period, a lot of banks out there do not approve more than 3 years on a used car, which can sky rocket your monthly payments. Luckily I had a family member with awesome credit and I got a good interest rate+4 year loan period on a used car, and I still sometimes think my budget is tight sometimes.
Yeah yeah yeah, I missed that post where he said it was his daddy's.
Please leave the Moderating up to me. I assure you I've got it covered.

Very good point. As the 1000000 other threads before yours about essentially the same topic have said time and time again, it's a HUGE financial commitment. Unless you have the cash up front, it takes more than just a job. You need to get approved first, so you'd better have a kick *** credit score. Then there's the maintenance that everyone talks about.

(didnt read anyone's reply)...
good choice, going for a low mileage/well maintained evo is best. lightly modded will also save you TONS of $ as its a win-win situation for you (assuming u want to mod the evo). also make sure to strip your lancer of any many mods as possible and sell seperately to reap the biggest $. gluck.

hell since u already have the evo wing and nice sound system... go buy an RS. throw the wing and sound sys. on and ur golden! i understand about wanting a brand new evo but new evos wont be easy to find in the color/config u want considering dealers are only holding the leftovers. ALSO the biggest depreciation happens the 1st year of ownership, do u want to face that?
If your really on a tight budget i really wouldn't do it... i mean are your parents really going to take care of your insurance bill FOREVER? keep in mind you'll eventually be paying 200/mo for that alone. The gas mielage isn't terrible, it's around 21-23 mpg under normal driving like some other user said... but the premium price tag really gets ya. I'll pay just shy of 40 bucks to fill up every 2 weeks or so.
I've only had the car for a year and the car seems low maintenance so far... just a couple of oil changes for 70 bucks a pop at the dealer. I don't like the idea of buying a set of expensive tires every year (spending about a grand a year on the Advans).
The bottom line is, if you really think you can swing it i promise you the first time you get behind the wheel you'll feel like it was all worth it and no matter what you'll find a way to work it out. It's THAT fun to drive. OH, and don't take the spoiler off if you get an evo.

your acting just like most other people do when they see my cars. thanks for trying to degrade me with every one of your posts. but your right. it will cost me an arm and a leg, that is if i try to pay it off as fast as possible, so im back to no payments. but anyways, ive got class. pz
But in all reality, like I've said before, this topic has been discussed thousands of time in the past. Someone wants to buy an Evo but isn't sure if they can afford it. Not trying to be a jerk, but usually people who ask that question will have a very difficult time financially with an Evo. It is NOT a cheap car to own. I got my first Evo when I was 22, and it wasn't easy to handle. Even if you never mod or track your car, you've got your weekly fees (gas), monthly fees (car payment, insurance payment), quarterly fees (synthetic oil changes), annual fees (tires, fluid changes) and bi-annual fees (brake pads, big maintenance stuff). It's expensive as hell for someone who doesn't have an awesome job. Think twice about this.
