Need some advice about my evo
I dont know whether I should trade in my evo for a cheaper car or not. I am 18 years old and work nearly 85 hours every two weeks and have 2 college classes that i attend. I realize I dont want to be living out the next 6 years(yes six...my loan term) like this. I dont have enough money to buy new stuff and I dont want to waste the rest of my teenage years. But basically my question was, should I jsut suck it up and work hard this long? Do you guys think the evo is worth it? Im really not sure. What are the benefits of paying off my car by the time im 24? Also, if I just ended up buying a car that is lets say 15k or so and my trade in value was higher...would the dealership deduct the difference from the new loan?
You only have one teenage year left so i don't know if you'd be wasting your teenage years by keeping the Evo. I suggest you try to overpay your monthly car note. Also, you should put every extra dollar you get into it....bdays, christmas, taxes, whatever. If you do that enough you could knock some time off your overall loan period. You will struggle for now, but it will be worth it in the end. I wouldn't sell it and take a big loss.

Hmmmm. I am 20 and in school at GA Tech for a engineering BS. I bought my EVO a couple months ago (Owe about 10k now after making solid 1k/month payments) and have a 06 R6 paid off. I work two jobs while in school and still maintain a B average at a relatively tough engineering school. It all depends on what your priorities are. I personally love driving and riding and thats it. I don't spend money on anything else. I don't go out at night and spend money on anything except my bike, my car, and necessities (Food/Water, Housing, etc.) I don't mind doing that because I truly love driving my car and riding my bike. I give up weekend nights EVERY weekend to pay for the car and I put as much money as I can into paying it off.
A couple words of advice (I don't care if you take them or not, it's up to you). I couldn't imagine working 85 hours a week to pay a car note. I mean how much do you make? There are PLENTY of jobs (especially when you go to college) where you can make 500 a week working 40 hours. This 2k a month should take care of most of your expenditures if you are dedicated. I work 2 jobs and make a bit more so I have a comfortable living, but I really do think it depends on how much you enjoy your car. Boozing it up for one night and spending 50 bucks at a bar/club or even 20 bucks at the apartment is a waste of money to me. It's somewhat fun for a while and then it becomes pointless.
Take it as you will, but this is my take on it, and I don't mind making certain sacrifices for the niceties.
