cold enough out for fuel cut on a stock car?!?
i'm curious if anybody else has experienced this. everything i've read and heard is coming from people that have messed with the stock boost pressure or something directly relating to it in some way.
first of all the only things done to my car are a catless 3" tbe and a samco intake tube with a k&n cone filter. i still have the stock airbox snorkel extension in place to help direct fresh air over to the filter. no flash, mbc, wastegate has never been touched yada yada. the only thing that has changed is today i put a fresh set of ngk bpr7eix plugs in. the old ones were oems and didnt appear to have anything wrong with them, they just had 15 or 20 thousand miles on them so i decided to change them.
anywho, on the freeway on my way home tonight i did a couple full throttle 5th gear pulls from 70mph to about 90mph for the hell of it to see if the new plugs helped in any way. it spiked to 24psi, then dropped to 20psi, then 16psi, and finally setlling at right around 18psi from 80mph to 90mph. i thought it was strange it was spiking a little more than usual but i attributed it to the cold weather (maybe 30' out).
once i got off the freeway i did a quick 1-2-3 pull from a 5 or 10mph roll to test it again and i got this:
1st gear spike to 24psi and drop off a tad
2nd gear spike to 25psi and drop down to 20-21psi
3rd gear spike to 25psi and hovered around 22-23psi and broke up once at about 5500rpm and popped so i let off. it felt like it was just about to fuel cut or maybe slightly did.
now granted during this time the car obviously has never felt so strong and probably as quick but i am a little weary that this obviously shouldnt be happening. has anybody else experienced this? my main worry is the notion of fuel cut. it is breathing more which makes sense but damn!

there is no gapping on iridium plugs though. i know what fuel cut is. my mistake for even mentioning that description. it felt like it was breaking up and probably was sprak blowout. i romped on it a couple times today and it is a bit warmer out now and it would only spike as high as it's usual maybe 22-23psi. my biggest issue is is this going to continue i'd assume when it gets cold enugh? possibly switching to a different heat range plug even possibly?
the reason i havent gotten a tune yet is because it is a slippery slope once i do that. in my eyes its not worth it for even a mail in generic dynoflash because i'd still want a 255, licp, ix bov, and a mbc to make things effective and worth my while. i have been tossing around the idea of doing these things in the spring and have it tuned safely at about 22psi. i've been trying to focus on having the car payed off before i start putting more money into it and modding it

care to elaborate? i dont have a mbc. havent messed with any boost settings. the samco intake is pretty much like a stock intake tube. i bought it because when i got the car the only thing it had done to it was a k&n typhoon intake system. i had heard horror stories and despite the fact that the car ran completely normal i still replaced the intake tube to be safe. now i understand that the additional air being drawn in from the intake setup and the additional flow from the exhaust will both affect things, the evos also tend to run rather rich from the factory in stock form. i've never had a single driveability issue (no cel or anything with the downstream o2 fix installed) and the car is used as my daily driver for commuting (mostly highway driving). this was also why i went with a stock heatrange oem replacement iridium plug as well. i just cant see how the couple minor modifications can spell bottom end destruction. i'll just have to make a point not to drive the car hard when it's cold out yet this winter til spring.
