Advice for another First time Mod
For an exhaust system I'm wanting something (components) that will increase horsepower to a good level with out being too loud. I'm under the impression I should either choose wisely or anything with still includes the cat is in the safe noise zone. I'm under the impression that TBE means Downpipe, midsection and cat(or no cat) and muffler). If I go CIA, will it be worth it w/out tune? I'm understanding there are no gains. If this is the case for both, I should just put my money on the access port, at least it would increase the atomization and get me better MPG right?
Now, changing the O2 housing, downpipe and putting on a high flow cat will have no perceptiable difference in exhaust volume. I just recently installed a 76mm downpipe with a high flow cat, and I honestly can not tell if it's louder than stock. I live in LA, so I'm very conscious about keeping the car low key to avoid any issues.... but I'm thinking I can get away with doing the muffler (keeping the stock intermediate pipe) and still keep the volume very quiet.
CAIs can make good power but you have to tune for them. This is because they generally alter the airflow pattern over the MAF from stock, causing the readings to no longer correlate the same. I'm personally just going to do a drop-in filter; simple and effective.
